My videos keep freezing. If I refresh the video plays from the beginning again. I can resume watching by clicking on where ever the video froze but it just freezes again after a little while. Play/pause button has no effect once it freezes. This happens even when I'm watching in SD and happens with the majority of shows I watch.

When I contacted support they told me: Can you please open a Chrome browser and go to: chrome://plugins
From here disable Chrome’s built in Flash Plugin.

But once I did that it just made it so I couldn't watch videos at all.

I'm really bad with technology so if someone could spell out a solution for me I would really appreciate it.

Which operating system are you using? Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8)? Mac?

I'll assume Windows for now... if that's the case, do you have access to another web browser other than Chrome .... such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari? If so, have you tried accessing Cruncyroll and streaming videos with any of those other web browsers?

Do you still have freezing video in another of those other browsers (if you were able to try one of the others)?

How long has Crunchyroll video been freezing for you? Did it just recently start?

Did you recently add any Extensions to your Chrome web browser? If so, you might want to try disabling them and try streaming video again.

Extensions in Chrome can be found under Tools > Extensions:

Extensions can be temporarily disable by toggling the check mark in the box marked "Enabled". No need to uninstall them:

Not sure if any of this will help, but it might be a start. Cheers.

FYI ... I playback Crunchyroll streams with Chrome and have the built in Flash Plugin running, and haven't had any freezing problems. Make sure you have the latest Chrome build (Version 29.0.1547.62 m). You can check that by clicking on About Google Chrome in the main menu.

Cheers.

I'm using windows 7. The only extension I have is for google docs. I've been using crunchy roll premium for about a month. For the first two weeks the video would rarely freeze and I would just refresh to fix it. Now for the past week or so the freezing is so persistent I have to stop watching and try again later in the day. I'll try it in a different browser and report back. Thanks for helping me out!

Excellent. Also, there are others reporting freezing, buffering, and general playback problems in a couple other threads so you may not be alone and it might not be the fault of your web browser. It might be a more general problem with Crunchyroll.

Cheers.

Hmmm.... you might be having the same problem as others then. A couple other questions and then I may have to defer to Crunchyroll tech support:

Which video resolution are you trying to streaming? 480P, 720P, or 1080P? Does the freezing happen on all video resolutions (including SD)?

Video resolutions can be switched via the buttons below the video here:

Does the freezing happen on any show you try to stream or just a few?

Are you trying to stream over a WiFi connection or straight through your modem?

It happens no matter what resolution I'm using, even SD. Sometimes I lower the resolution to temporarily fix it but then it just freezes again later.

It's happened with all the shows I've watched (Kuroko's Basketball, Orelmo, Attack on Titan and Free!). The only exception is Rose of Versailles, if I recall correctly the episodes I watched played all the way through no problem.

I am also using using WiFi.

Thanks again for the help!

You might want to try a wired connection between your computer and router to see if that makes any difference.

Really? The university I went to had Ethernet outlets in the dorm rooms, so I'm not used to hearing that. What happens if students bring in a desktop that doesn't have a WiFi card?

Have you tried looking in the Library or a computer lab? They may have an open Ethernet port in one of those locations.

I can't say for sure, but if this isn't some general problem with Crunchyroll's data centers, then I think your particular bottleneck might be because you're on a shared network.

I assume that your current Internet connection is provided by your college, right? If so, they may "throttle" (choke) video streaming in order to prevent people from hogging bandwidth at the cost to other students on the same network. In order to maintain network health, they may block or throttle various bandwidth intense sites (online gaming, video streaming, file sharing, etc...).

That's just a guess from my own experience as a former private network admin.

You might want to ask around your dorm and see if others are having similar issues or if you can contact the system admin for your network and find out if they throttle bandwidth intensive sites. If they don't, then at least you've eliminated that as a potential issue.

For now, you know it's not:

- the internal Flash Player in Chrome.
- browser specific.

At best, you can keep eliminated potential problems and try to narrow it down. Also, for the heck of it, try streaming some anime from another legal site such as Hulu (http://www.hulu.com/tv/genres/anime). Hulu's free streams have a video resolution of 480P just so you can compare. See if you run into freezing problems with their anime streams. If so, then maybe it is your shared network. If not, then maybe it's a Crunchyroll specific problem.

Sorry, I really wish I could help you more. Good luck. Hope you work it out. Cheers.

I've been in about 5 threads with the exact same problem and have yet to see a response from an Admin. The only people TRYING to help are other CR members but nothing they say will work since the problem is on CRs end. A lot of people are going to stop paying for this soon if nothign changes and I am one of them. This is the only way for them to realize how much of a problem this is.

When did you post? This morning? None of the admins, at least not the ones located in America, are going to be up at this hour to help you. You'd have better luck getting a quick, direct response sending a message using the /help?topic=contact form.

College wifi is incredible guys. There's no way it's related to the wifi. Also, it doesn't matter where I connect from, it still has this issue. I know that it's not my virus protection (there's an exclusion), not my ISP nor my internet connection, so then what is it? Chrome has no issues with ANY other video sites. I'm going to take a stab at it and say it's something CR related. This has been annoying me for the past 6 months or so.
