I love so many of them it's hard to choose(shut up I'm still manly...behold the few neckbeard hairs that I have). I'd probably say Clannad because of how much I just loved everything apart from when my heart got torn apart and excreted on. On the other end of the scale I would say 'Ah/Oh my Goddess' because it makes me feel all warm inside. I also planned on going with Toradora as one of them too, but that's not really the main reason I liked it.

6. Spice and Wolf - This would be #1 if they would ever finish the story, but the part they did finish is one of the finest, most realistic, and "grown up" relationship stories ever told in anime, despite the fact that one of the two is a who-knows-how-old wise wolf/harvest goddess. This isn't a magical girlfriend story, it is a story about acquaintances travelling together for convenience whose relationship grows from that to business partners, to friends, to lovers.

...
...

Spice and Wolf is finished! In the 17 volumes of Japanese novels anyways and the English ones are coming along! Needs a few more seasons of anime however... definitely one of the best ever, I need to retake this picture as I didn't have volume 4 at the time I took this.

Yep, I know. I just read volume 9 the week it came out...

8 more volumes and English will be done too. Season 3 when? Probably never since the novels are done, sadly.

Oh and the week the latest volume came out in English, it beat all volumes of Attack on Titan manga for sales on the New York Times bestseller list which is awesome! Some faith in humanity restored, Holo is better than Titans :)

I'm not much for romance either, but I have to say Ai no Kusabi (the original not the remake) great love story with an ending that was a real surprise. I think it's the best love story ever told. I also think Basilisk was a great love story, even though Oboro got on my nerves.

Another great love story is Fruits Basket. great story about acceptance and love.

I found Maid Sama, OHSHC, and Special A to be nice love stories, not great, but nice.

Sword Art and Angel Beats was pretty good aswell

Also thought MM! and Aria the Scarlet Ammo was pretty decent.

I could literally spend an entire day on this subject. Instead, I'll just say if you want to get gently into the genre, start with Ano Natsu de Matteru. It's gorgeous visually, not too heavy handed and has some nice action breaks.

If you want to get deeper into the genre, go with Say "I Love You". I'd call it fairly even handed with some very satisfying romance.

If you want to experience the full range of emotions, grab a box of tissues and start Kimi ni Todoke. This is not for beginners, and is drowning in very heavy love drama. At least watch Say "I Love You" first.

All three of these are waaaay above average for the genre, and are in my opinion "must see's."

Kannazuki's CHIMEKO disagrees.

Girl/Girl love stories have better stories, anyway. B)
