For the past 2 years I've been waiting to buy only two games: Final Fantasy XII and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
I'm yet to have neither +_+

I feel for you. I (obviously) already have FFXII, but I don't even have enough money right now to preorder Twilight Princess for GC (and I certainly don't have enough money to pick up a Wii yet!).

I'm playing this game, too...I'm currently at Pharos of Ridorana I admit this game is packed with looonng sidequests, mob hunts...so many non-story related places to visit...you just can't seem to run out of things to do....so it took me longer to end it compared to other FF games I've played.

Yup, the battle system is very much different from other sequels...and it does need some getting used to. At first, it really is confusing but over time, it's actually easy to do. Love the gambits system actually...I just walk around and let my characters do the fighting hehe...makes leveling up easier and faster. My only problem with this is the espers...they don't get much role in the battle since quikenings are most of the time better to spend your MPs on...but I have to say the summoning video and the special attacks of these espers are wow.

Oh yeah, and I luv Balthier

I'm fighting him now.

I don't even use espers or quickening chains. I find it's much easier to save that mana for healing.

I know this question has been asked and answered in at least half a dozen other forums on this site, but I'll say it anyway.

In its early days, Square made mostly arcade-ish action games (King's Knight, for example). Unfortunately, the truth was Square's games kind had little commercial success. To top it off, they had invested large amounts of money in developing games for the declining Famicom Disk System. So, by 1987, square was on the verge of bankrupcy. Hironobu Sakaguchi, one of Square's designers, decided to put together an ambitious final project before retirement, which would also, quite possibly, be Square's last game as well. He decided to create an ambitious new cartrige-based Roleplaying Game, inspired in part by Enix's Dragon Quest series. Since it would be his last project, he decided to call it "Final Fantasy".

Of course, the rest is history. Final Fantasy was an overwhelming hit, saving them from bankrupcy, and making them one of the most popular design companies in Japan. And with a hit like this, you had to make a sequel, right? And of course, fans wanted a name they could remember, so why not call the sequel "Final Fantasy 2"?
And so on, into a franchise.

As for "Mission Impossible"...well, I guess, the mission would have been impossible for anyone else. That, and things like "final", "impossible", and "super" sell products.
