Hatred for radio stations

So I am sitting at work and I have my laptop playing the songs I love to listen. My job plays the radio station (I work in a warehouse) and it just makes me want to kill myself. Adele, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, One Direction, and like 3 or 4 other people/groups. I respect everyone and what they love to listen to. What I despise is how they only play about 10 songs total from all these 7 or 8 groups AND THEY LOOP IT!

Did they run out of stuff to play?!
It is a station where they play the "HIT" songs from 90s and up.
There's a rock station that does the same thing (if you want to call it rock). They claim to be the best hard rock and metal radio station and talk about tattoos, and sports, and beer, and whatever heavy metal action you could think of, but they play Nickleback and Korn's dubstep stuff -_-

I don't get it!
That's just my little rant. I know, "Who listens to radio nowadays?" I cannot avoid the radio station here, so I try mute it with my songs.

I listen to the radio at like 3AM when I don't give a damn and it just feels nice to drive alone outside.

Otherwise.. I'm either Pandora when I'm doing homework (so that I'm not paying attention) or I just make my mix on Soundcloud and listen to it all day.

The thing that really gets me is when CLEVELAND'S ROCK STATION 100.7 WMMS plays Imagine Dragons in any capacity. That is not okay.

They always play the popular songs / artists because that's what gets people to listen. But it's really annoying, so I don't like to listen to the radio. A couple weeks ago three different radio stations were playing "Blurred Lines" at the same time. That's the radio in a nutshell.

I don't care for radio, it's always catered more to mainstream music, which can be catchy at first, but overtime, becomes ear grating if it's overplayed too many times. I've flipped the radio station before and yes, two stations had the same song at the same time. My iPod is my best friend for music listening. I listen to a lot of more unknown artists and international music, neither of which get radio airplay here.

I've never liked internet radio stations either, I tried last.fm and pandora, but I didn't like the selections they were playing (though I don't like how randomized internet radio stations are in the first place), so I just use my iPod / Youtube for music nowadays.

It focused on mainstream which is what ticks me off. I am not saying I am surprised they do, because it has been like that for a long time. I just feel like I should share because I have no choice but to listen to Bruno Mars (playing at the moment) for the 4th time today. It just feels like I will freak out super soon.

I just do not understand why they repeat these songs over and over? The world is full of songs so why loop 12 songs a day????
Rock stations don't play rock. The hardest thing they play is probably Korn haha.

I would still rather hear Freak on a Leash on loop all day long than listen to any amount of Imagine Dragons.

Just YouTubed them.
You have an excellent point, my friend. I have heard of that one song I am pretty sure you hear all the time. What the hell is that even considered?!?

Seriously; music today is just incredibly crap.

How radio in the US works is like this: basically why 40 of the same tracks? back in the days when people relied on jukeboxes, owners noticed how patrons chose of the selection they had which were the most often played and stick with those 40 songs, hence top 40. basically what is on the radio is what is selling the most units at that moment. so yeah radio in a nutshell. don't like what you're listening to? try college radio or there's always the Internet to scour for online or foreign stations. simple solution
