I don't like rap music, never go out of my way to listen to it, but I don't understand why people hate on it so much. Its just a kind of music, why do people get so annoyed? There are times when I cant stand a certain rap song but I wont go on fanpages and bash it.

I like old-school rap, but probably because my dad listened to it all the time when I was younger

Rap is one of my favorite genres actually. You just have to look for the good stuff. Favorite rapper of all time is Tupac, and favorite that's out right now is Kendrick Lamar. Good Rap albums for anyone looking to get into the genre:
Nas - Illmatic
Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
Tyler, the Creator - Wolf
XV - Zero Heroes & Popular Culture (Listen to Zero Heroes first)

I luv DMX Eminem Dre Jay Z 2pac nas, but cannot stand whatever bullshit Kanye North south east whatever his dumbass is called, anyone from young money or cash money ( the group that has fred durst in it, as sad as it is to say, fred durst fits in perfectly with those no talent losers) or drake. Basically 90's gangster rap > modern commercial pop/rap

I prefer older stuff, the new stuff on the radio just doesn't sound good to me. There's some great rappers out there that aren't as popular though, it's a shame they don't get the same recognition. You just have to look further than the radio these days to find decent rap imo.

I cannot stress this enough, I listen to this daily and still not tired of it. You have to listen to it sequentially a couple of times, it's pretty much a concept album and tells a story, don't skip the "skits" at the end. After a couple of times through then just listen to your favorite songs.

My personal favorites are the title track & the art of peer pressure. I'd recommend this for all of y'all who say I liked rap in the 90s.

edit: Ether is a sick song (not illmatic, was too tired to check earlier)

Rapping or rhyming as never been a form of music to my eyes.
A rapper do follow a beat but it sounds too much like a talked aloud poem to me, and they do not actually sing, exception of a couple 'songs' where there is eaither a singed bridge or chorus.
Also, the genre as quite degraded and became used in the wrong way.
I did enjoy some rap but i honestly enjoy other genres quite more like classic, metal and some pop.

I listen to a pretty big array of different music/noise whatever. Probably didn't get into hip hop until I was around 15 but its currently my favorite. I agree with the previous post, it is the most exciting genre right now.

I prefer Hip-Hop, but I don't mind a good pure rap song. Depending on the lyrics of course, I think the genre is pretty strong.

I like rap music if it is about social change, otherwise I can't stand it.

I love hip hop a lot, however if its on the radio or tv i most likely dont listen to it. i mostly listen to underground rap music because the artists involved are genuine are talking about things ppl can relate to. i cant stand turning on the radio and hearing like 10 artists rap about the exact same bs with the same uninspired beats. however i love surfing the web and listening to MF Doom or Nas or Shing02 ya know. i dont think ive turned on the radio to listen to rap in almost 10 years lol
