At least I'm glad with the turn of event, I've been thinking for a while that the "movie" was taking too much space and diverting the story from the main plot-line. It's fun and all seeing them talk about friendship, but nothing beats the evolution of the relation between the deaf girl and her bully turned bullied.

I felt that poke should have been a hug, instead.

I thought the poke was perfect, and
If it had been followed by a hug, that would have been nice... Maybe next week.

Koe no Katachi is a shounen manga though.

I love how the author manages to convey so much with so little dialogue. Last week and this week as well, there's so much being said without words.

Can't wait for next week. The poke was unexpectedly cute. Please someone say how you feel about the other!

Did anyone else get the impression that Ishida's "dry mouth" was a sign that he now has a speech impediment (temporary or permanent) that will make it hard for him to talk to people without relying on signing?

I'm probably wrong and it was included to draw parallels between him and Nishimiya; but it was a thought running around in my head as I was reading.

My first reaction was that he now has a speech impediment as well.

While it was my first thought seeing it in the context with this story.

But then I remembered how dry my mouth was after just being knocked out from a surgery... couldn't imagine a multi-day coma and the feeling of how dry my mouth would feel. Because I think in that situation the best they can do for you is wet down your lips so they don't dry and crack, but they can't have you drink water or anything because you would probably choke or something? Not sure really.

When my mother was in the hospital they had little sponge thingies they'd use to moisten the inside of her mouth, but they only did it after we asked =/ I doubt the staff would care to think of it for a coma patient who wasn't even awake to feel any discomfort. Sooo I think the reason behind Ishida's garbled speech is just that. He also had a breathing tube in his nose- I and just about anyone I know of can speak fine with their nose plugged, but I notice this gets played up a lot on TV (live-action or otherwise).

I disliked the idea of him becoming disabled just so he'd be 'a perfect match' for Nishimiya or some such thing, as if one who wasn't disabled would never be able to connect with her as well as someone who was. That thought made me sad. Glad things didn't turn out that way (that we know of).
