Really enjoying this. Enjoy feels like the wrong word as I too feel like there's some serious drama around the corner.

That aside, this is my current favorite manga.

Just on this. I think it's a bit extreme to say Ishida deserved what he got and was a completely horrible person, he was a child and he seemed a fairly messed up one at that. That's not to say that the bullying wasn't horrific - because it really was, painful to read in fact. I just can't agree with that. I don't think a child being bullied can be justified whatsoever, I don't think they can ever deserve it. I mean what was the result? He had a few miserable years feeling completely ostracised and was even driven to consider suicide. I find the Ishida being bullied after Shoko has left just as much of an uncomfortable read. Children bullying each-other isn't good whatever, to whoever. But it's also something that happens.

I do know what you mean about the love angle on it. There's no denying it's a strange relationship. They are both two scarred kids who don't seem to have lived much of a life up until now. I think there is an awareness of that. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

.

I've just reached the part of the manga where this aspect is starting to come out, and I have very much the same thoughts.

I get where you're coming from. Ishida was definitely a troubled kid, but he lost any sympathy from me with his sociopathic attitude towards someone whose only "crime" was existing. Sure, it's a more reasoned and correct position to empathize with his own potential troubles and look for ways to make him a better person, but I also believe some people get what they earn.

I think that's the route this is going, but who knows? Maybe we'll get a surprise.

I had trouble last night, but I was just able to read it.

As for the contents? WOW! Intense chapter!

Anyway... Great chapter, and it looks like there may be some nice alone time with Shoya and Shoko come the next chapter, based on the next issue's title: "Summer for Two"

There was also a chapter 38.5 that I saw the other day that was really pretty good! I hope we get it on CR...

Happens every week with Koe no Katachi, in my experience. CR seems too take a while to upload it.

Anyway

Ancient Koe no Katachi Proverb: ow

So... I like where Ueno's character is going, but I can't read Mashiba. I can't tell where he's going, and that bothers me.

Next chapter's title doesn't sound like it's going to be fun. Especially after this chapter's events.

Started this one about two weeks ago, and it's at the top of my must read list with Orange now. I'm fine with the romance element myself as I see this more of a story of growth than redemption. There is definitely a redemptive theme to it and Shoya totally has that mentality in the beginning toward Shoko, but it seems like it's more about these kids figuring out how to navigate through life and what kind of people they should be.
It's pretty obvious from the last chapter's cliffhanger that Shoko has some growth in store.
