So I'm going to be picking up my PS4 day one, and in anticipation of it, I have decided to get myself a new HDTV to replace my 6 year old 40" Samsung HDTV. I see a lot of info about MotionFlow and have been curious whether i should be looking for higher motionflow or lower.

I'm testing Sony's 40" KDL-40R450A at the moment and love it. It's vanilla, with now smart tv options and its basically like a big monitor. I plan on using it for anime and gaming, and an occasional movie.

I'm thinking i might get the 50" version of it, the KDL-50R450A, but as of yesterday the item is no longer available from their site, so i'm kind of concerned why.
599.99 for a HDTV with a beautiful screen.

I'm wondering if the motion flow is important.

Hell... should i go for a plasma?

Reccomendations please. Really need to replace my old Samsung, i swear it actually increases motionblur haha.

Just so you know, I have a plasma screen and they get pretty freaking hot. Thats good for the winter but it's awful in the summer. As for the guy above me, yeah you could hold out for a 4K but if you're just using it for PS4 games don't bother since none of the games will be 4K.

True, but it does output video in 4K, so that's something to think about if it's important to you.

Last time I checked, you want LED before LCD, and LCD before plasma.
I'm admittedly not a huge TV guy, so I'm probably not helping very much.

Also, if you're not in any particular rush, I would keep an eye on this page http://www.dealzon.com/home-theater/hdtvs to see if you can get a better deal on the TV you're looking for.

Vallagard I'm wondering if the motion flow is important.

Not at all.

Matter of fact, when you select "Game" under the "Scene Select" menu, it will force "Motion Flow" and Cinemotion" to off and it can't be turned on to minimize input lag.

If you're happy with the Sony KDL-40R450A then stick with it as it's a nice set for the price.

I picked up a Panasonic TC-P50S60, a 50" plasma with minimal Smart TV features for about $700. I'm happy with the purchase, and I haven't noticed any heat issues, but I keep the AC running most of the time.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the 50-inch model is currently available from Amazon, but if you do decide to go with plasma, the line was rated highly for a budget plasma television.
