Of course it will!!the story is way too good to only have 1 season the fans would go nuts! im looking forward to a second I've already been ahead from reading the manga i highly encourage others to read it if they haven't already.

The critics could kill this anime. Most that I have read(2 write for CR) have found major things wrong with it, and there are those who outright don't like it. Can the fans ensure a season 2 , I don't think they can.

Critical praise has little to do with whether or not an anime gets another season. The primary factor is DVD/BR sales. The secondary factor is whether or not the anime boosts the manga sales. As of August, the anime helped propel the manga to over 22 million in sales. From what I've seen, the DVD/BR sales aren't great, but they aren't bad either. In any case, I'm sure Attack on Titan will get a second season.

Not great? Pretty sure selling over 65k is consider more than just great.

I'm basing it on the volume 2 numbers:
http://animetotalsales.blogspot.com/2013/09/japans-weekly-blu-ray-cd-rankings-for_10.html

It's ranked 8th for BR and 16th for DVD. The numbers are still respectable.

Just imagine 'We are sorry, but we are not producing Season 2' I would commit suicide for sure.

Hah, Nichijou had absolutely horrible sales numbers in Japan.

If Marz311 is right about where episode 25 will end, it'll probably be about 2 years before there's enough new material for another 2 cour (set of 11-13 episodes) season.

Ah, I think I see what's going on. You're looking at the copies it sold this week. Anime sells are a lot lower after the initial week of release. What's more important is its Cumulative sales, which is the total number of copies it sold since it has been released. Blueray (33k)+ DVD (17k)= 50k in sales since Vol. 2 has been release.

It will no doubt have a second season. It is just too popular and the sales have been extremely good for it not to happen. To give you an idea on how well it is doing, Anko-chan on Reddit constantly updates sales ranking with official sources: http://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1ltpf9/summer_winter_2013_tv_anime_average_sales/ - and as you can see, AoT is currently 2013's best selling anime, ahead by +20K from the second most selling anime this year.

Thanks for the correction. You've made a good point that I should have looked at combined sales. While 50k is still less than the 65k number you quoted, I guess we can expect that number to be broken this week or next.

So, I guess we can say sales are solid--I don't want to say great just yet. :)

Oh it will happen. There is only like 3 episodes left, unless they pull an ending out of their ass, the only thing they can do with these episodes is reach the end of the Female Titan Arc, which doesn't end in a conclusive, satisfying way. In fact the arc ends on a cliffhanger that opens up a Pandora's Box of new questions.

To be frank I think they knew there would be a second season at the least because they've been overall so faithful to the manga so far. If they were going to reach any form of satisfying ending this season they would've probably deviated from the manga shortly after the conclusion of the Battle of Trost Arc.

It will happen. There is still a lot of material to go through. I am not entirely sure on sales figures and all, but it's pretty popular and I believe the last episode is going to be shown in theaters in Japan, so I assume there will be a second season.

Definitely going to be a season 2 due to how popular the show is. However they are going to let the manga release a bit more chapters. I expect a season 2 in like summer 2014 or fall 2014

Yeah, I heard shortly after the DVD releases that sales were bad, but that goes to the part of my post that was not quoted that Sales is probably the #1 reason it gets more than one TV run. I've heard and this may be just a random rumor, but I thought sales improved later, but then if that is true they green-lit continuations based on immediate sales over a set time, not just Nichijou.

It's funny that DVD sales sucked, but to this day they still release figurines, use the characters in magazine or internet posts to celebrate special event's like Christmas or Valentine's Day. Heck there was even that mash up using Baka to Test (link below) and I believe even more than a year later the name is easily recognizable.

Relating to AoT: Even with respectable gains in sales it's just a wait and see.

Even though the show was liked by fans, that doesn't mean they all bought the releases. Part of the issue was Kadokawa released the show at a higher price point with fewer episodes than even the Japanese fans were willing to pay, so I remember hearing.
