Can't wait to see it. It is my most hyped fall anime. The director is Gurren Lagann's director? It's writer is Gurren Lagann's writer? It's character designer is Gurren Lagann's key animator? Oh hell yeah! Sign me up.

So at this point, is it safe to say that scissors are "in" now?
Lots of anime lately have been implementing scissors as a weapon. I think the first time I saw that was in Mysterious Girlfriend X.

Yeah I'd say scissors are in as a weapon now. This year alone had The Severing Crime Edge, Gatchaman Crowds, and Dog & Scissors in addition to Kill la Kill as series featuring scissors as a weapon.

Yup! Also Hitagi, from the Monogatari Series, used scissors along with her staplers and pencils during the earlier episodes. This is probably getting off topic lol.

The scissors are in like 1 episode in the entire series of Gatchaman...

Hajime, the female lead's, powered suit features, scissors as the main weapon, and here and JJ use scissors a number of times, at least once per episode.

Uh, she's brandished them once. In the whole series.

JJ uses scissors to cut pieces of paper. Like everyone else on the planet. I don't see how this makes Gatchaman "about" scissors.

I never said it was "about" scissors. Just that it had the use of them as a weapon by a main character. Basically think of it like the recent trend where several non-fantasy video games have started featuring bows & arrows as a weapon. Assassin's Creed III, Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, and The Last of Us all have a bow as a weapon. Similar trend with anime having scissors as a weapon.

Action is not simple

It's mindless

but not simple

It is NEVER that simple, just look at how well people screw it up!

No, we want good mindless action! Kill la Kill promises that!

I'm curious as to what you mean by mindless. How can it not be simple, but mindless? Action isn't always mindless anyway.

OT, I can't wait for this show.

I threw in mindless as a character or story trait, but action as a studio/creator trait.

Lets throw in One Piece, there are many a moment in which anything or everything(Often involving punching) Luffy does requires little thought, or is completely mindless in and of itself.

But the action thats performed, or the through and detail into animating it, was planned by some great creator hands.

SO, your character doesn't need reason or forethought to punch, and I expect some awesome yet limited reasons for that in Kill la Kill, but from the reputations of the animators, not a punch is going to be simple.

I don't need a reason for my punches! I just want to see punches. Like Afro-Samurai. That shows plot is so paper thin an origami bull probably wrote it, but the action sequences took some creative thought, creative thought out the ass.

I'm pretty sure that's just her "super form". As in, we'll only see it three times at most.

And any inkling of this being "serious" flew out the window after seeing 8 year olds with chainsaws.

Stalking /a/ for KlK threads is an easy way to find info. I actually heard a preview of the OP, which is very much like TTGL's.

And as for the chainsaw kid, he's right there in the corner:
