Read the manga and you'll feel slightly better. About 2/3rds of what happened in the anime did not happen in the manga, plus you'll hate the MC less. Aside from the ending I can't find anything good to say about School Days.

What was bad about School days? I am quite serious as I just watched all the shows in one sitting, yes my mind is blown, but it was great show that had a lot of truths in it.

The manga? There's a manga? It's an anime based on a game with 21 different endings to it, so of course they had to choose some way to end the show with. Considering the endings that are in the game, this one for the anime isn't that bad.

Hell, I didn't know it had a manga either. News to me. And to people crying over the anime ending, PLAY THE VNs. I don't remember at the moment, but are there any good endings to those?

Scarred for life again? Ba-zynga! Nailed it!

On-topic, I think a School Days scenario is perfectly possible. I know a few girls who didn't take kindly to my juvenile antics(cheating) when I was in adolescence and still naive.

We both have learned something new, didn't know there was game. I'm really interested to find out more about this.

As for the show I liked the ending despite all the stupid stuff in the last 4 or so episodes. Overall it was mediocre but I had to watch to find out for myself.

Edit: I just remembered that in the anime they failed to properly explain the whole myth/fate of putting the person you like as your phone wall paper. It was a critical part which was blown over in favor of making the MC become an irresponsible fool. This is why I found it mediocre.

I just finished watching school days and I'm glad I live in a good family. Now if you'll excuse me I need to try to get some sleep and hope I can survive the night without nightmares...

Well, I just finished School Days (what fucking rock have I been living under? I had always heard about it, but never bothered watching it until now). Anyways, I had avoided any threads pertaining to it to avoid spoilers, so I went in unprepared and didn't see what happened coming (well I did guess Makoto would get his ass killed near the end). Either way, I don't see how it's a bad anime. Sure, Makoto is the alpha and omega of assholes who thinks only with his dick, but I fail to see how that made it a bad anime. I quite enjoyed it, no matter how painful it was to watch at times. I'm just a bit disappointed that I didn't like any of the characters enough to make me cry at the end. I normally make a concerted effort to cry when something sad happens in an anime for both immersion and entertainment, but I just couldn't for School Days. I was pissed that Sekai died because I started rooting for her around the pregnant part, and I loved it when she stabbed the shit out of Makoto. Either way, Kotonoha just came off as weak to me, which is why I stopped liking her. At least I can assume and take solace in that she was arrested after that (with how forensics are, the cops should barely have to try; also, she's running around with a severed head). So here I am, necroing a thread in a vain attempt to share my opinon.

Even though there's a lot of hate for the infamous School Days. A lot of people have praised it and called it a masterpiece for it's truth and satire of the harem genre.

I myself thought that School Days wasn't half bad for what it was trying to do, but unfortunately I don't quite know what it actually was going for. Besides showing a dramatic, yet satisfying ending with Makoto's death.
(On a side note there was a nice boat at the end)

I didn't really look for a deeper meaning in School Days and took it for what it was, possbibly because I really wasn't expecting it to be what it was, I honestly was expecting a harem romp com going into it, so deeper messages weren't considered until it was too late and I was engrossed in watching Makoto fuck everything on two legs. I believe I can also attribute not getting much out of it to the fact that it's point was quite clear to me and nothing new. Don't be a selfish bastard/bitch, because it may backfire on you. Makoto didn't give a flying fuck for anyone else's feelings, Sekai had a similar issue, but in a different way, and being on the receiving end of all this, Kotonoha gained the same flaw, and all were undone by it. There was a nice boat at the end though, I wonder how much it costed.

Yes, they all suffered the same problem in the end, but in my opinion, Kotonoha did have at least somewhat justification for what she did. I feel that she had been betrayed the most and suffered the delusional mess that she called her boyfriend, without doing much, well until the end that is.

The show in general is also accurate from what it's based on though, since it was originally based on an electronic adult visual novel where the protagonist tries to get every girl he can.

Yeah, I'm probably going to look up all the endings on youtube when I feel like it. I wanna see some of the happy ends.

I wish you luck. Trying to go for a Kotonoha-only end (i.e. the opposite of the anime) resulted in ...

I love the VN, but, if there is any lesson it teaches, it is that there is no love without pain.

I've watched stuffs way more horrifying than School Days... so the psychological side effect wasn't that big of a deal to me. I'm actually surprised a lot of adult viewers (20 years old +) are making a big deal out of that scene.

I was still in high school when I saw Berserk, and the ending of that anime was more horrifying than the ending of School Days. A lot of anime like School Days are nothing to me... personally. I can enjoy the content without freaking out about other things. Because I'm used to it...
