I turn down:
-Around cops (best not to attract the attention of these government-backed thugs who will abuse their power with little or no provocation)
-At night in residential areas
-In the early morning in residential areas
-If I'm lost and have to listen to the GPS

Pfft, blasting music from your car isn't cool anymore, just ask all the world-weary hipsters out there. The thing to do these days is to blast cars from your music. I blasted a few Ford F150's and a Lamborghini Diablo from my iPod last week.

What cars are YOU guys blasting from your music? That is, if you're COOL people who play cars from their music, rather than being total losers who still do something lame like playing music from their cars.

i love blasting unexpected music. most of the time, i hear people blasting rap, sometimes it's hard rock. i love being in a car with friends blasting '90s pop music, or classic '80s ballads LOL

^ This. I listen to hip-hop/rap, but I like blasting Michael Jackson and other gems when I drive.

ah, i don't have a problem with hip hop/rap or rock. Michael Jackson? nice! i just love the look on someone's face when you & four other people are singing along to The Police or Chumbawumba's "Tubthumping" (or something to that effect) lol i listen to most music, so one never knows what i'll be blasting.

& i do turn it down, at least a little, when i get to a stop light/passing a cop/driving through a residential neighborhood.

I don't really like it, especially if vibrations from their system is severe. My heart would hurt- literally. xD

Car? Remove the middle man and get a dubstep gun. Don't blast music out of your car. Blast music directly at people.

Not as annoying as those who tune their scooters to make them extra noisy.

I blast every kind of music. Even classical piano music. It's great. As long as it's not that awful radio music, I have no fear of letting others get an idea of what I listen to.

I know I watch the volume and the place, but at the same time I know there will be intolerant people who will dislike and look down on a person for any song that they can hear coming out of that person's car. People can hold their opinions on music, but that doesn't mean they are right and you are wrong when they are able to hear your music for a brief moment.

As long as you're being considerate of the time and place at which you play your music and show some respect on the road, those people can suck it. At that point, you're doing what you can while still being able to enjoy your drive and it's not the volume of your music that matters, it's their inability to tolerate the different tastes of others. I mean, c'mon, the road is packed with cars and they happen to hear one car blasting music for 4 seconds (which is just loud enough to hear and not TOO loud if guidelines are followed) so they form negative opinions about the driver and wish bad things on him/her? Please. And nobody is telling them they can't listen to their own music. Unless, perhaps, they don't like music, which would say a lot about why they are grouchy.

People who need to buy themselves some headphones.

Seriously, sometimes I can stand it, but other times it's really annoying. Why do you need the music that loud?

The only times that people blasting music from their cars is-

1. When I am trying to sleep! If its 4 a.m and and you feel the need to drive down the block with your windows down blasting music
you need a mental evaluation!

2.When your 5 cars ahead of me with your windows up and I can hear every word of the song like I was sitting in the passengers seat next to you!

3. When I am sitting in a restaurant or cafe that's on a corner and you stop at a red light and your music is so loud it rattles plates and silverware!

Other than those three feel free to blast your music. I do it when I am with friends

EDIT: When I say "you" I don't mean the posters on this forum.

Blasting music from their cars so loud everyone can hear it - especially if it is ghetto trash blasting ghetto rap music? You bet I have even more of a problem.

People should play music - but when you play it SO loud your car shakes and everyone can hear it there is a problem.

Common courtesy.
