Yeah. I'm fat.
I wear 4X.

I also happen to be an anime fan, and I'd love to wear your clothing...
...except you never stock my size.

Remember that fat people have money too. How do you think we buy so much food?

If you stock it, it will sell. I just got back from a con this weekend and found no appropriate sizing in the dealer's room either. What seems to be the holdup? It's like the entire industry discriminates against people who's money is just as green as everyone else's.

Don't proliferate the madness!

I'm speaking as a customer, and no affiliation to CR, but most of the apparel that is stocked is sourced by vendors, who just don't plain produce anything higher than XL or rarely 2XL. Do a quick google search of a company like Cospa, who makes a great deal of anime related goods, and they're unfortunately made in the majority of sizes worn by the Japanese market.

They have a crazy "dark swordsman" jacket modeled after Kirito's outfit, completed with Dark Repulsor and Eluciador, except it comes as large as XL. >.<

If you find anything that peaks your interest that isn't carried, and is also sold in a size you'd want, let them know, as they will look into selling it.

...and this is a sad thing. If there was adequate stock in the correct sizing, I'd probably buy about 20 t-shirts right now. I see so many I want, but can't wear, because I guess Japan has no Sumo that are part of the fandom.

I'd expect a company that markets to a particular audience to carry goods applicable to that market. If you're going to be marketing to the US... well. We grow them a little thicker over here, by distribution, as compared to the Japanese market. If that's not in their business model, then, honestly, why bother?

It would make good business sense to cater to your buyer's needs.

I need a 4x. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

I know this is a bit older thread, but screw it, I'll necro this topic even if it was years old. I'm right there with ya dude, I'm a 3x wearer and still get shut out. The best I've ever found (read: 1 and only) for printed tee is a Tenth Doctor tux shirt as 3x, and i <3 it. I'd totally price match you if 3x+ were available.

It's not a necro. I just posted this in August. It's a live issue, and for us, it's a LIFE issue.

For some reason companies seem to think fat people aren't geeks, or love anime and other fandoms. I'd say that the exact opposite is true, and that per capita, we neckbearded fatties make up a much larger portion of this community than other hobbies. I just wish they'd support us with quality products. It would be a sure fire win. I have about 15 shirts on my radar I'd love to buy, but they're only for skinnyfolk.

It's a shame, really.

If the T-shirts are ones produced by Japanese companies, then there is a legitimate reason they only produce them for "skinnyfolk": In Japan, obesity is far more rare than in western countries.

I'm not an authority on the subject, but I've read that sumo wrestlers are contractually required to wear traditional Japanese clothing when in public. So there are no sumo street clothes in general, let alone any designed for otaku. A western company will have to take up this issue.

Semi-necro bumping, but as others have said:

It's not malicious, it's just that most merchandise are imports from Japan, and 98% of their stock is an "American L" or below. Or a tiny selection of what might be called American XL. (2XL in Japan is like American L)
