I watched a show the other day. The world without US. What if the USA called home all it's over sea troops and fleets and told the world take care of yourself? They cut all aid to all parts of the world and just let the other nations of the world care for each other. Do you think the world would be better or wrost or just pretty much stay the same?

The world would be utterly thrown into chaos. The USA runs hegemony like influence over the rest of the world. Though that power is waning it is still important and keeps more evil at bay than you could possibly imagine. More people fed than you'll ever know. There are no countries that when confronted with disaster do not say. "Oh well, whats the USA gunna do about this?" then they later turn around and find ways to condemn us for helping them. Unfortunately we suffer under an incompetent president at the moment who doesn't understand how to advance the interests of the United States.. and who in fact does everything in his power to undermine them. But one day he will be gone and the world will be a better place once more.

Another thing, we put boots on the ground in Iraq because we saw an opportunity to promote the western ideals of freedom and democracy in Iraq. The war was justified as it advanced the interests of the United States of America. We should have acted during the green revolution in Iran. But Obama failed there too. Now those people are dead. It is important to act in these cases because when you create democracies you create a peaceful world; true free democracies do not go to war with each other... it.. just doesn't happen.

There are only 2 times the United States should ever unleash the full power and fury of her military might. That is when in defense of herself and when protecting her ideals of freedom and democracy in the rest of the world. For example with Syria which Obama so desperately wants to attack. We simply don't have a dog in the fight, we did, but he failed to act.. now we only have two enemies of the United States fighting each other there. There simply is NO ONE to help there. They're already dead.

And fuck all you liberals who will quote me your bullshit after this, I've already heard all the arguments. You're overly pampered, you murder your own babies and you don't even understand simple things like... Why you have to pay for your water. MsMaxy74 on youtube. Go search her. That's you

But I'm off topic

Thank you.

I didn't view it but I only seen the cover for it. I wasn't too sure on whether I want to watch it or not. Isn't USA a modern day version of the Roman Empire? I'm just curious.

It basically is. But much improved, it most definitely is in the sense that it holds hegemony over most of the countries it touches. Whether they want to believe it or not.

Capitalism and the United States government are the end result of human civilization. We've tried many things and this is what works the best, Rome proved it and we simply evolved from that and made it better. Perhaps this government will be surpassed in the future with the advance in technology that would make everything available to... everyone for cheap... (Star Trek) But for now, its the best thing we have and will be for a very very long time.

Sadly we are suffering from the same things right now that distorted and eventually tore the original Roman Republic apart from within. Lets look to history and not go the way of Rome.

No I don't think so we don't tax anyone outside our own boarders. What the usa is right now is a speed bump for lack of a better term.

Here is what happen in the show

within a month of the us pulling everything home

israel fell but before going under launched it's nukes so most middle east citys where wiped out and Iran moved in and pretty much controls the middle east

taiwan and South Korea fell and japan feeling threaten builds it's own bombs bring it to war with chinia

Rome didn't really collect taxes from people outside its borders either. They did collect tributes from the countries which were basically protection money. The United States accepts these as well. From countries like.. Japan. We also accept them in the form of trade agreements building rights etc.

Yes, and remember what happened to Rome, seriously U.S.A is great and all, but no country or nation is without faults. And no one man isn't the reason for your country not being as great as it was, since you know there was an economic crisis and things take time to build up.

Indeed we're all to blame here in the United States. Most of us are poorly educated or too far up our own asses (liberals) to see whats really going on though. And I thank you for not immediately shooting down my country is a hate filled rant. We could use you in America sir. You'd make a fine addition to our people.

I get what you're saying. But the European Union is an experiment. A very great and important experiment. They take by our example and yes.. the United States is also an experiment. A very successful one if I say so myself. We've had our ups and downs and so have they. Give it more time.
