The value america has in the economy is too esential to be taken out. We ship in and out of so many countries that without us, they would fall. We have such a vast natural resource output that is vital to the current population in the world. Also, cultural wise, America is still pretty important. We are kind of like a central hub where everything is mixed together and redistributed again. There is a hint of every culture in america and visa versa. No other country had the immigration importance and benefits that america had. Sure other countries had merchants or travelers but america had thousands flocking to it from nearly every country. Yes the government side of the US is a big dick that is being shoved down everyones throats but the country as a whole is of too much value.

England is a shell of what it use to be I don't think it can project power much outside of Europe and it can't provide much in the way of aid

Came here thinking there might be some interesting discussion. Arrived and found only haters fighting the USA fanclub who're reinforcing their belief in the nation that makes children swear a pledge to it in school in the few posts I skimmed through.

Personally, I believe it would be a different place. Better or worse? Hard to tell, but I doubt it would be anarchy. In the absence of America another major power would probably have risen into a somewhat dominating position after a while of squabbling, only to eventually decay over time. Then some more squabbles and another nation would rise as a power. Pretty much the same as what's happened in smaller and larger scales over a long time now.

Yes I think so...cause they too nosy always butting in other countries business plus......all the countries that hate them so much would not be as violent towards change if they....were not around to......create eyesores.

I kinda live in the US so it would be inconvenient if it just vanished off the face of the planet.

All the other countries hate the US, because we do have a habit of sticking our noses into other people's business. However, history has shown us that isolationism doesn't work out too well, and the US not only gets involved in other peoples business through military force (which is what everyone focuses on), but also through economic aid, etc.

I think overall, many countries may dislike having the US as a "big brother" who probably gets too involved in their situations, but would rather the US be there than not at all. 31.2 billion dollars in foreign economic aid is not a little bit of money. Not to mention the spread of technology, political concepts (let's face it, democracy in the current age is a very American thing, even if there are issues with the political system) that help inspire people abroad to affect change and improve their own countries, and military assistance (the sale/loaning of equipment, etc.).

Would probably every other country want to change how the US does things internationally? Of course, but politics is about compromise, and I doubt any country would agree on what exactly to change (i.e., they'd all want more financial support for their own country, sort of thing). I think very, very few countries would want the US to disappear entirely, but there are a few (e.g., North Korea, Iran, Russia, etc. probably all want the US gone, but that's more ideological than anything else).

So... Are we talking about the US just suddenly disappearing off the face of the planet? If so, of course that would cause a helluva lot of problems. Any major country suddenly disappearing would cause major issues in international relations, trade, economy, and everything else. We've become a very interconnected world, and the US is a huge part of those connections, for better or worse.

Now, if the US just did not come into existence in the first place, then there would probably be another country to take its place. Most likely the UK, or perhaps another English colony. In which case, there'd just be another country for everyone to love/hate/whatever. Little would change.

What I haven't seen anyone mention is the surprising rate at which America has grown. Recently I found myself in possession of a British coin that shows the date as 1797 and it got me thinking, by that time USA would only have been 31 years old (roughly). The history that Britain has compared to America is astounding too, on my visit to Nevada a few years ago I went to Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort which dates around 1855 and claims to be the first housing structure built in Las Vegas. Now granted that it's a 'newer' region of USA considering that it's on a desert and all I still found it interesting that such young history is so relevant. Fifteen minutes from my house we have The Guildhall which was built around 1380 and Jewry Wall and bath house which was built by Romans during the mid second century. Things like this again just show how young USA truly is.

Imagining a world without it would be difficult and the research I have made did not give me an answers or insight. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that Americas rate of development is impressive but could it have grown too quickly? Reports such as this would suggest so: http://thetruthwins.com/archives/how-far-has-the-u-s-fallen-america-leads-the-world-in-these-36-shocking-categories

The whole point of my reply is to say that we can do nothing but wait and see. If America burns out which some sources say is possible then we may get a definitive answer, but for now I would say that having America a part of our world makes it no worse so my answer would be that it would not be much different if they left. After all, they have not been here long enough to make a drastic difference in my opinion. Wait another 300 or so years and everything that they did would be undone and no one would remember.

America has its good points and bad in relation to the other countries in the world, but I believe that America does more good than harm.

I would like to think that it wouldn't change that much from what it was before the US became involved with the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm (soldier here ^.^) that part of the world has always been fighting since WWII because of the Allied Powers, we put warring tribes in the same country and now we decide to help those countries, yet those same tribes resent both the USA and the European Nations because of the re-mapping of WWII which is why nations that enter that area have failed...I say leave them alone they will figure it out and the USA can fix its debt problems.

Yet you need us in every war you start or it goes tits up lol. Also I'm not sure it would definitely would be better but with out aid Israel would fall and that would go a long way to relieving tensions in the middle east which could only be a good thing. also to people saying science and technology wouldn't be as good most things where invented in Europe or Asia so I'm sure it would have been fine.
