Well sure. If you want to hate the world go ahead, but when you're stranded on an island with me don't expect me to spear you any coconuts

Love your post. Couldn't have said it better myself!

Wow. Getting a little defensive there are we? First of all I can't even say I ever read your post, and from reading this one, I can tell your previous post isn't even worth reading. It's those kinds of negative comments that I was referring to. It's people like you that push others to hate other people by judging and name calling. All I did was post my views on how the negatives far outweigh the positives when it comes to humanity, in response to other people's comments on how beautiful humanity is.

The second thing... you don't know anything about me, or the kind of world I supposedly want. I have a huge flaw in believing there may be a shred of good in everything, and probably will continue to the day I die. I'm probably one of the nicest, helpful people you'd ever meet if you met me, because I enjoy helping others, but I never expect it from others. My point here is, don't judge someone based on how they view things. That was the point of my original post, commenting on how people are looking down on those who have different views of the world and humanity. Not once did I insult or attempt to insult anyone, and apologize if anyone took offense of my post.

People tend to have a closed-minded view of things, all I am doing is trying to open people's minds to another way of thinking. Do I expect everyone to take a negative view of everything? Of course not. But don't look down on people that do.

Misanthropes are annoying. I'm a shameless optimist, and it always irks me when people can only see the bad side of things. I also find it amusing how misanthropy usually seems to be a self-defense mechanism used by people with zero social skills. "They just don't understand how awesome I am! People suck!" Blaming others for your issues seems to be a popular thing these days. Just another product of the lazy, entitled culture that the Internet has somehow bred.

Sorry, but is this because you're nervous/uncomfortable, or find me awkward? In the case of the later, it may have been a bit of a non-sequitur, but I thought it was funny, cause people were talking about coconuts, which has nuts in the name, and he said people are all nuts, by which he meant crazy, but if you consider all nuts to mean 100% nuts, then because coconuts aren't nuts it becomes funny. The only problem is that the conversation was about coconuts, rather than the people being coconuts...................................

It was lighthearted humor. I thought it was funny.

There's a lot of humanity to be negative about. There's also a lot to be positive about, I believe. I choose to look on the bright side, but that doesn't mean I ignore the darker side. I like to think it's the same for misanthropes - they chose to look on the dark side, but still have that tiny sliver of hope. At the end of the day, it's just a matter of preference and outlook. We all want what's best for the world; some people are just more prone to look at, or more motivated by, the failures instead of the successes.

I'm going to also agree with earlier comments that a lot of "misanthropes" are just showing off. Like, oh, look at me, I'm so edgy and cool for hating you all! Especially on the internet. Internet isn't exactly a beacon of positivity.

I feel a true misanthropist wouldn't even bother bragging about their hatred toward humanity.

I think this sums it up nicely.

I would be considered a misanthrope by the definitions listed in this forum, but I don't necessarily consider myself one nor do I go around bragging about the fact that "I hate humans" any more than I go about advertising that I am an anti-theist.

I accept that all people have different opinions and beliefs and leave them alone. It is only when I am pressed or forced into revealing information that I do so, otherwise, I try to have as little contact with the majority of people as I can (internet excluded) and go out of my way to not be bothered.

I have always had a severe distrust for the majority of the human race (not that I am excluding myself from the race itself, but rather that I find it hard to associate with) and it is predominantly based on my experiences as a child and a young adult that were only then reinforced when I got out into 'the real world'.

That's not to say there aren't 'good' people out there, but the jerks seem to outnumber the good people by 3 to 1 not to mention that a majority of the 'good' people do really dumb (and hurtful) things when other people are watching.

Then there is also the fact that while I am an adamant believer of 'having faith in your own ability and being your own person', I can openly say that the majority of decisions that were not 100% in my control were dicked over by people being jerks to other people (mainly, me or my fellow employees, friends, family, etc.)
