Except I didn't even try... Because I don't care.

But that's a wonderful reiteration. Good regurgitation. This was fun! Keep on spewing, buddy. Get it all out. Fight! Keep fighting! I'm gonna go on... I'll wait for you, aniki! It's the fact it must be explained at all, my young padawan.

Wish to be a Jedi now do you?

And as you've shown you can't describe Attack on Titan we already know you do not believe it can be said in one sentence.

That is why you fail. - Yoda

i think i wasted the first 5 minutes reading all the posts about ppl saying it wasn't "their cup of tea" after the first 2 episodes?? holy shit, you only watched 2 episodes and can already say this anime is boring? i said the same thing when i watched fairy tail. it was such a slow start and boring the first few episodes.. oh man.. months later i decided to continue watching it till after episode 10.. then i realized it became one of the best #$#%ing animes on my list.

all i gotta say is.. watch it and enjoy the show. or don't watch it, go ahead and live under a boulder and miss out on one of the greatest animes out there.. i never even knew anything about AOT until i saw it on crunchyroll's 2013 simulcasts.. decided to give a new show a go.. and already, first episode and i was hooked.

@ nugen361:

It does have elements that can make some people disinterested in it. The first episode literally did nothing to draw me into it. I need to watch episode 2 still but it still isn't showing itself to be equal to all the hype it got initially. This is the burden it has. I'm not even saying that it's bad. I had to find another reason to continue watching. But there are problems that still exist here.

The first and biggest problem is that there are so many fans who say it's one of the greatest animes out there... and then can't say anything they like about it. Look at yourself for example. You just said to people to go ahead and live under a boulder rather than give them a reason to watch.

I'll ask you one very specific question.

If you are a fan why are you willing to tell people to go enjoy life under a boulder and ignore this show?

I really like it. Normally this is definitely not the kind of show I'd watch because I can't stand any sort of gore and anything even slightly resembling zombies terrifies me, but I find this anime fascinating. It's also extremely rare for me to be interested in an anime within the first few minutes of the show. I also find the 3D maneuver gear to be an interesting concept, and it's definitely entertaining just to watch them use it at all.

I don't have any crazy attachments to the characters but I normally never do, although I like Eren and Levi the best so I'll be annoyed if they get killed off. I like Eren's rage and I like Levi's capability.

I want to learn where the titans came from, what their purpose is, and why. Will the writers take the "God/nature did it" route, or the "Science/government did it" route? Perhaps something else entirely? I'm curious about the titan shifters: their abilities, origin, and their motives. I want to know what the church knows and why they are keeping it a secret. I want to know how the wall was built. I want to know the chemical makeup of the titan's bodies. I want to know what's in that friggin' basement oh god why can't they just go there already then I'll know everything.

This anime keeps me engaged by revealing hints that only give me more questions instead of answers. What started as a "What are the titans, where did they come from, and why were they created?" has turned into dozens of other questions with the original question still unanswered, and all those additional questions just make me want that original question answered even more desperately. I find it more interesting than a lot of those animes out there where the main question you have about it is "What happens next?" and that's about it.

I like all the questions this anime gives me, and I like trying to come up with my own answers in my spare time. I guess I like being able to ponder about an anime even when I'm not watching it instead of it fleeing from my mind the moment an episode ends and not returning until the next episode rolls around.

Again I am not asking for what you think of it. I am asking for you to summarize why I should be watching it within one sentence.

Why is it the best anime out there story wise?
Why is the animation better than everything in existance?
Why is the sound so perfect?
Why is the character development so perfect?

You don't produce anything to keep me interested still.

How about I give another example?

It's a tennis themed show which contains absolutely nothing about tennis and goes completely insane within seconds as it only has 2 minutes to get your attention. New episode in... about an hour from this posting.

What are you rambling on about? My comment wasn't to explain anything about the anime, just what I thought about it. You want something that explains what's good and what isn't go look for posts that actually tell you that. I could care less if you were interested in this anime or not.

And I never even said it was the best. I said one of the best.. So maybe you should make sure you read things right before replying to them.

For story I was like alright this could be alright, but once we learn more and more about the titans, and the wall, ETC (not gonna say anything that spoils the anime) You just wanna know. Finding out the reasoning behind the wall and titans is like us finding out how the world was made.

The animations quality literally blows any other anime out of the water. Animations, emotion, that moment is captured so good. Even if it's not my favorite anime, the quality is still amazing.

The sound is good because it uses soundtracks that are perfect for what's happening in an epic or sad moment.

The character development isn't the best out there, but it's still good. Especially for Armin.

Well, since I find the show nothing more than mediocre, picking a show I think is on par with it wouldn't be that hard.

So then do it

I can at least tell you some recent popular shows that I get the same feel from. We have the first arc of last year's SOA. Slow after the first couple of episodes, main characters we don't really care about, action scenes that don't really turn into anything special. I personally liked the second arc more in some ways. The action picked up in some ways.

Hmm, and...

Since you said on par and not better than AOT I feel like I'd only go on a rant if I say more. I don't like to talk negative about shows other people like so much as this. I just miss the entertainment this show should give me. I wish it was more in the realm of Claymore, which I had so much fun watching. In ways it's similar to that show, but they tackled it much better. I wish it was on par with that one.

Do you have other shows that you feel are on par with AOT? I really want to know what other shows you put on the same shelf.

The Name of this thread is "Living under a boulder? Reasons to watch attack on titan."

That right there gives me the impression that these will be reasons to hook someone who has NEVER watched the series, or only got a couple episodes in and ignored it.

But then you have this little gem of a line: "Note there are some spoilers below. But really, you should be caught up to us at this point in the game ;)"

...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...WHAT THE HELL??? You specifically advertise this as a guide for a newbie to the series(Just as a note, I've read the manga, so I don't fall under this category), and then go ahead to essentially say don't read this guide if you haven't seen the show...

This is useless garbage.

Edit: Let me correct myself there as calling it garbage is a little mean. It's just useless garbage for the targeted audience. Not in general.

Really far back, but Mirai Nikki may have released in a Shounen manga, but it was most certainly a horror romance. I don't think it's good to classify a genre based solely on where it originated.

Now, onto other things

I do agree that both sides seem to have an equal amount of people that don't really give any reason for their side of the argument. But I also feel that there's both sides ignoring the other side's point/s, and twisting them into something they're not.

Someone ridiculed me for liking SAO. A show I consider better than this. SAO is still not one of my favorite anime ever, but I did find myself enjoying it. It just focused a bit too much on two single characters the first season, and the second season it fixed that to an extent, but was still a little bit too focused on too small a cast. But it was much more enjoyable than the first season.

AoT does sorta the inverse. It focuses too little on way too many characters. And you begin to see the effects of this with things like Marco, which was supposed to be a really memorable death, but in reality felt like just another person being thrown into the grinder. This happens quite a bit throughout. It makes death rather boring to watch.
was the first time in the show I actually felt some sort of emotion at a death, but then, well you know what happened. And that really ruined the show for me. And things just began spiraling out of control from that moment forth. Maybe, just maybe part of my problem with being able to enjoy this is that I'm rather desensitized to fictional death and have a harder time feeling anything for a random/recently introduced character's death? Anyway, moving on.

So, the first season's main flaw was that. It was a plot contrivance that bugged me immensely. Others may talk about how it wasn't contrived, but that's only possibly true if you're referring to the manga. I haven't read the manga, so I can't say whether it felt as contrived or not. but with the anime, it really came out of nowhere, and still hasn't been explained. Yet, now we have season 2's big flaw, the

So, hopefully that was the reasoned and fact-based argument/s against the show that everyone was looking for. though, honestly, one doesn't need fact/reason to determine whether they think a show isn't good to themselves. Only to show others as much. Facts and reasons aren't needed at all. You like what you like, regardless of how much sense it makes to someone else.

I believe the term you are looking for is that calling this thread garbage is an insult to garbage. It's another in the long list of hype boulders piled on the titans shoulders. They keep dropping said boulders and in doing so losing following.

I'm actually quite amazed it's still on the front page. Promoting a show with a total lack of substance in the promotion material and a boat of gimmicks rather than actually giving people a reason to watch attack on titan. A guy on wikipedia did it better than the first post. That's pretty darn sad that an anime site is being beaten in review quality by an information site.

Whatever drugs you're on. I suggest getting off. It's really messing with your mind. True SAO was flauded for a bit, but that was just because of the fast pace. The 2nd Season was garbage though. but CLAYMORE?! No... just no. Claymore is eh. AOT is on a totally different level

I actually never watched that anime. I was speaking a literal truth with as much of a sarcastic tone as I could with text.
