I still don't like it. I'm still watching it thinking it will grow into something more, but no. We are two(?) episodes away from the end, and I still don't feel like I care about any of the things on screen at all. I want to like it though, don't get me wrong. It's just that none of the characters in the show does it for me. I don't like them. I don't care if they die(except potato girl). Eren, Mikasa, Whiny-kid. No, no, no. Just die already. It's also damn slow. The pacing is brutal. I like the world and the setting. The first intro was epic. The music overall is decent. But come on, it's over-hyped. I wanted much more than I've gotten so far. The first couple of episodes were really effective. I almost shat my pants when we first see the that über-sized titan behind Eren atop the wall. God, it was good. But now, I'm bored. Sorry. Glad it's almost over. I'm glad people enjoy it, but there's so many other shows they should see before this one.

Score: 2,5/5

How can you even watch this series when it's not even licensed in Norway? Are you using a Proxy or something?

Crunchyroll ain't the only place to watch anime you know? ^^

The animation for the series is gorgeous, but frankly the story is pretty base and most of the characters are pretty boring and one dimensional. Levi and Mikasa are the only characters that are somewhat interesting in my opinion. Also, what really urks me about this series is the fact it frequently has overly dramatic death scenes for characters when they barely have any depth to them. If the author's gonna make his characters have dramatic death scenes, he should at least find a way to give his characters depth and development BEFORE he kills them off. Otherwise it just comes off as cheap shock value and ruins whatever potential these characters had in terms of growth. The only reason why the series has gotten so popular is due to the insanely high budget that Production I.G put in animating each of the episodes as well as marketing the ever living shit out of it. Considering the source material of the manga has a base story, flat characters, and chicken-scratch artwork, I'm seriously convinced that this series will be forgotten very soon. In my opinion, Attack on Titan's not a bad series, but it's not a very good one either.

2/5 for the manga, 3/5 for the anime solely due to it's visuals.

I agree with you on that one. Whenever I start to like a character they die so what's the point in even attempting to like any of the characters. my score 2/5

After some ups and downs, my initial 3/5 score for this at the beginning is pretty much unchanged.

It's not horrible. It's entertaining, at times, and there are some good parts. But there isn't anything really notable about this beyond the action scenes, and for a fighting-a-war series, it doesn't have a whole lot of those. Quite a few gruesome shots of Titans eating people, though, often to the point of unintentional self-parody.

It is, like the first review said, very much like Gurren Lagann...in that it's a pretty good show that has been overhyped to an insane degree. I sometimes get so tired of being bombarded with Titan-ness that I dislike it more than it really deserves.

You apparently overlooked something in chuyaka's message. I have little doubt he is aware of these other sites you speak of.

It's intense and high quality, but it misses on too many important things like themes and characters to really be a masterpiece.

Opinion.

I think the characters and themes are fantastic, mature, and relate-able. Shingeki is a cut above the rest, there's simply no denying that. If your only criticism of it is that it's not a "masterpiece", then really the question I pose you is, what is a masterpiece to you? If you can't think of any, you've nothing to measure with, and if you masterpiece has been disowned by even one other person, then your measuring stick is crooked.

The show really is as good as people say it is, the question is does it truly possess the negative qualities that the haters are so vocal of? Slow pace is just about the only sentiment I can agree with, but further examination of the series will show that they aren't doing that out of malice. The book releases are just as slow so it's not really something they can compromise.

It's a good show, and that's really it. In my opinion there won't be a "second coming of jesus" anime anymore. We are in a generation where very little is brand-spanking new to us as viewers. There is only good shows, and bad shows. Shingeki is a good show and we leave it at that. There's very little reason to point out that something won't be "the best of this generation" because that's literally impossible now-a-days, with so many series and so many different tastes. Nothing will be.

What counts is that we are entertained, it's an entertainment medium. If we enjoy watching, then the show is a success, and we needn't ponder its success potential further.

I have this odd issue, sometime it seems that the more popular an anime becomes the less likely I am to watch it. I had been watching AoT from the beginning but somewhere along the way I just decided to put it on hold. I'll probably save it for a marathon during Christmas season or something.

I'm happy for the author's and studio's success of their work and effort. Also and I'm glad that the series has gain a big fan base however the more popular it gets the more I will just stand back and let it ride out.

I remember being skeptical about watching it when it first came out. Mostly because I thought the art drawing was really different from the usual anime and I wasn't too sure if I'd really like it or not. But my favorite anime/manga reviewer began uploading reviews for it and said that it was really good. I couldn't really understand how, I assumed because of the at style that it was going to be kiddy-ish. Nonetheless I gave the first episode a shot and I was hooked. I never craved for anime episodes like this (especially in the first 5 episodes) ever! The only show I've been hooked on like this is the Walking Dead. I'm really glad I got into it--heck I made sure to get my family into. My mom isn't even into anime, and she loved it. I felt like I had to make everyone I know watch this show xD

Why? What does the popularity have to do with the quality and your genuine opinion of it? You don't have to take part in community discussions, nor do you even need to be aware of how popular it is.

I could understand if it were unnecessarily popular like Apple products but I don't think anyone could say AoT doesn't deserve to be popular.

So is there more to it or are you just not going to continue watching because lots of other people watch it too?
