Crunchyroll is actually the only site in Norway with AoT, that is legal and have good quality.
You could use proxy, but Crunchyroll is making that difficult.

But I don't really care about it, since I just stream it from my friends computer who downloads loads of anime.

BTW, can someone tell me what the actual ef, that licensing crap is all about?
the way I see it, its just making piracy worse... a LOT worse!

This anime is friggin amazing. The last episode was the best so far and made me feel like an idiot for not catching the twist they threw at us even thou it was clearly visible to tell!

Why? What does the popularity have to do with the quality and your genuine opinion of it? You don't have to take part in community discussions, nor do you even need to be aware of how popular it is.

I could understand if it were unnecessarily popular like Apple products but I don't think anyone could say AoT doesn't deserve to be popular.

So is there more to it or are you just not going to continue watching because lots of other people watch it too?

The structure of the story, the execution of story in the animation is well done. Yes there is more to it, but again it's like I said in OP that I'm sometimes a little contrarian, it's just my wiring. AWA will probably have about 50% AoT cosplay next week at the event. I like how you drew the comparison with Apple as "unnecessarily" (which I concur), I never said AoT didn't deserve the popularity. Much to the contrary, I'm happy for the series.

I guess it goes back to my days when I was doing Radio where I would hunt down garage bands and underground labels. I guess I like the more obscure titles. I do enjoy other popular titles like SAO, etc. I will finish AoT eventually but with Fall2013 Anime Season launching, I'm going to be chasing all the new titles for now.

I got to about ep 7. From what I've seen it's not a good anime per se, it's just good because the source material was so good. You can't call flashbacks, and long cuts of faces and all these animation shortcuts a 'good' anime.
Also I wanted medieval BLAME!, not grimdark shonen. The first eps, the first pages of the manga, are pure awesomeness in that regard. Until

it was the best damn thing I'd ever seen/read.
This is just this year's Sword Art Online.

How exactly is the "style, scope and hook" anywhere similar to TTGL. The style is almost completely different, they're going for a realistic world, where in TTGL they ride robots that have faces on them, wear big flashy sunglasses and capes. The scope is also completely different. In TTGL their conflicts escalate humanity as a hole, and end up coming down to universes being destroyed. The only thing that could be remotely similar is the "hook", which even then is different. In TTGL their hook is basically to throw logic to the curb and do the impossible, where in SnK its basically them being curb stomped until someone becomes a titan.

I personally only watch anime that appear to care about the fans. I understand the writers can't cater to our every desire but they also won't do something to make us regret watching. All I need is a good story and a resolution.

I think it is quite understandable that many people don't understand or sympathize with the characters because many people have never actually been terrified or even considered the conditions of war. I do think that if you are comparing it to other anime you love you will not give it a good rating. It isn't over yet, nor do we have any idea when it will end (last I checked anyway). Some can't handle the suspense (Attack on Cliffhangers, I believe) and probably should marathon it before rating.

I wasn't even sure if liked TTGL until I finished watching it. Now I love it.

I will admit that I watch all genres and the only anime I have ever dropped by choice was Amnesia. Maybe my opinion doesn't mean much in this conversation.

I should also add that I am a seiyuu lover and only started watching at the promise of Hiroshi Kamiya, Daisuke Ono, Hiro Shimono, Marina Inoue (I keep calling Armin Kana XD), and Romi Park. I had no choice but to watch really.

I read the manga of Attack on Titans first and couldn't ever really get into it, tried watching the anime because of people bugging me too and surprised to see that the anime covers to where I read in the manga and the anime version didn't get me into the story at all. This anime isn't for everyone, like me, and I can't see why people think its so great but then again I'm sure some of the stuff I watch and love there are many people who think it sucks so its all relative. Isn't that the great thing about anime though, that there are so many different genres.

Yeah this show is terrible, this should not be the standard for passing out for not watching it. Gurren Lagann is infinitely better than this. you guys need to get off this Overhype high and really take a look at the show. it is not as good as you make it seem. Go watch something with more quality. Best anime ever is Attack on Titan? yeah ok buddy *points to Cowboy Bebop* GG losers

Reading this thread I've concluded that a lot of you people prefer your flashy explosions and high quality actions scenes as opposed to genuine constructed story telling and character-driven narratives. AoT has it's many moments of epicness that should not be overlooked, even if I prefer my weekly dose of Hunter x Hunter. Not liking AoT is fine. Calling it trash is utter nonsense. Especially in conjunction to you Gurren Lagann fans.

Would have been a 3/5 for me, but it's improved in the last few episodes... it's now a 4/5 from my perspective. Hopefully the next few episodes are as good as the last two or so have been.

I have no idea how I made it as far as I did with this show. Well, I do. Because the show was mildly interesting throughout, and never really made me upset that I watched it. I think I also had some fun poking fun at things that happened.

Anyway, it's really a very boring show. it's basically a shounen in many aspects, and I really don't end up getting into shounen shows usually. They just drag out things way too long. This show is no exception. If the show isn't panning, it's talking. And not any sort of interesting talk either. Boring, dry material. The one moment in the show that really could have redeemed it (you all know that moment) was ruined when they pulled some plot magic to undo it. Though, I know in the manga it was set up better.

And, in the end, this show is about plans going wrong and operations failing. to the point there's just no surprise in anything that happens, because it's just gonna fail or go wrong. The show's gotten horribly predictable, even outside of that (an example being the latest 'twist'. A few of the characters are interesting, but the amount of characters that get focus is just too many.

Then, there are the recaps...they're way too long. One I clocked in at over 3 and a half minutes. That's just ridiculous. And very few episodes are given the right to be without them.

I could probably continue listing reasons I find this show to just be a bore to watch, but I'll stop there. I'm only now still watching it, because by the point I had gotten fed up with it, I was already so far into the show, I figured I may as well finish it off.

I think my opinion of the show is probably reflective of how bored I get with shounen series though. Which this show really does imitate in so many ways.

Although the pacing is pretty annoying I can see attack on titan becoming a masterpiece (no irony in that statement) I am not a complete fan boy of the series and I acknowledge the bad points in it such as the flash backs and the inner monologues, however at the end of each episode it leaves me on the edge of my seat. If attack on titan is to become the masterpiece that I know it can be then it will need to be around the same length as FMA Brotherhood as I think we still need to see more character interaction instead of internal monologues, also the world in which it is set despite being mostly populated by titans has a lot to explore and I think it would be a waste if they did not give it the proper amount of attention to the different aspects of the world including the titans, the political system and also the different fighting styles that different characters use as if attack on titan lacks any thing it is the action that lasts more than a couple of seconds.

Wow that was more than I intended to write but it is difficult to sum up attack on titan in few words and at is more difficult to suggest improvements on a show with as much potential as this one.

I personally love Attack on Titan. Sure, it has a lot of flaws, but for me, its positive aspects greatly outshine its negative ones. I love the art style and the story, and I think that the character development for Armin and Jean has been really impressive.

The most easily noticeable problems with AoT for me are the pacing issues and the dragged-out scenes or reused animation. But considering the way it's animated, I can understand why they would need to reuse animation here and there to save on their budget. (I don't really know what I'm talking about; this is just speculation.)

I think what AoT needs to work on is better pacing and more character development. Other than Jean and Armin, the characters haven't really developed much due to so much focus on the plot of the story. Also, the dragged-out scenes (I believe) have mostly to do with the fact that each episode is based on one chapter of the manga; when everyone is just talking in a manga, it seems fine, but when put into animation, it doesn't always work because most of an episode might be wasted on character monologues and not enough on plot development.

Despite these problems, though, I still love the show. Every episode makes me want to see more of what will happen. I feel like a couple of things that help AoT stand out from other series is its grim atmosphere and its treatment of the characters, especially the female ones. When it comes to Sword Art Online, I feel like these are reasons why AoT (in my opinion) is better. In SAO, Kirito was pretty much the only useful character while everyone else remained on the sidelines, and the atmosphere that the series had in the first three episodes seemed to disappear with episode 4 and beyond (and don't even get me started on SAO's second half...). However, in AoT, Eren is not the most useful character, and the atmosphere from the first few episodes is still very present in the current ones. Don't get me wrong, I like SAO (enough to want a second season), I just think that AoT is better because of how it handles its story and characters.

I feel like the hype just comes from how many people like the show. Personally, I feel like any show that gets over-hyped receives hate that it doesn't deserve. Any show can be liked by any number of people for any reason. I feel like instead of calling a show "stupid" or "lame"--or even "over-hyped"--isn't a good judgement of the show. If you dislike the show, then you should give reasons that have to do with the series itself rather than its fan base or its popularity.

I went off on a bit of a tangent there... And I hope no one takes offense to anything that I had to say; just wanted to share my opinion.
