The old adage 'opinions and a$$holes' comes to mind. Many people here apparently see themselves as judges, because their opinions that are stated so blatantly as fact is kind of disgusting. You like what you like and you don't like what you don't like; it's as simple as that. But using terms like 'over-hyped' and telling people that they're' wrong' is absolutely ignorant, naive, and downright stupidity at its finest. Some of you can't seem to stand that others have these foreign concepts such as 'opinions'. Those of you preaching need to get off your pedestal and realize that your opinion is just as useless as anyone else. We're here to discuss, not to judge as if your opinion actually means anything but jack-shat to me; if you're going to use it as a way to degrade and somehow make it seem as if you mean anything at all to my opinion. I revel in the fact that my opinion can piss someone off so much.

I personally love the show, and began reading the manga shortly before the anime began airing. I like the manga much more, however, because I am one of the very few who adores the brutal, almost medieval form of artwork that Isayama portrays. To each his own. Then again, I'm not going to call those who hate it 'morons' or 'cannot see the show for what it is'. It is what you see. "BAKAYAROU, KONOYAROU." That whole...elitist attitude. People who talk like that are immature and underdeveloped. We make our own realities. The fact that some people here think that they're more 'correct' than others is horrifyingly hilarious. That throne you think you're sitting on? It's made of porcelain.

Almost all anime and manga is special and amazing in some way. Those jumping on the bandwagon are no more right or wrong than those who refuse to jump on it simply because the bandwagon is full. Fact of the matter is that there is no fuggin' bandwagon and that we are all either liking or disliking the show. Simple. People love to make things out to be much more than they actually are. All of this said, anime and manga are here for enjoyment. Those who can't enjoy...I pity.

Recently had a conversation with some anime peoples, and a good handful said that they hadn't seen Attack on Titan yet.

My brain short-circuited and passed out for a cool 3 minutes. /dead

When I woke up, I went directly to the Crunchyroll Newsletter team, and told them this news. They too passed out. When they all woke up, we all agreed that it was high time to post some reviews as to why you should get from underneath that boulder and watch this glorious show before it ends.

Dear Crunchyroll team,

Haven't you realized that this glorious show is only available in 4 countries? The anime fans in the other 100+ countries can't get from underneath that boulder as long as the show is region locked.

Hyping the show is not going to help. What is going to help is getting rights for more countries. Please work on it.

Attack on Titan wouldn't be half as bad (currently rating it as an eight on mal) if it weren't for the long ass dragging of the dialogues. There's this much \__/ titans and this \__________/ much talking. How fun.

And then you get to the actually exciting part and it's finished before you know it. Gosh.

Let me not get started on how it needs more Sasha and Mikasa as well.

I did check it out when it was a couple episodes in, and I understand why its overhyped. I did follow it for a while but stopped towards the end of the irst half. The conclusion I came to is that it was just one of those that didn't suit my personal taste. That and the fact that it got so slow. The first battle (Trost is my last name, what irony) was two episodes too long.

I'm sure this series is good, but there's just certain things that I can't watch... I can deal with a decent amount of violence, but people being straight up eaten by giant monsters? No . And, though I don't know much about the actual story, it also just overall seems too depressing for me. That's why I probably won't be watching and/or reading Attack on Titan.

In truth the show does have some things that more than annoy me a little (like the tendency to overemphasize those background songs during some of the action scenes - God sometimes I wish they'd tone it down a notch, it looks cheesy to me).

But even so I keep sticking with the show because its pros definitely outweigh its flaws. For one thing it has truly mastered the art of the cliffhanger. I haven't felt this way about keeping up with a show and guessing what would happen next since watching "Code Geass" years ago. And as one reviewer mentioned before, it really does well in tapping into that primal fear of losing your place on the food chain. There are plenty of "War is Hell" kinds of stories out there, but few portray that sense of fear soldiers get when going into battle the way this one does.

Not one of my all time favs, but definitely a show I don't hesitate to recommend. And at least I enjoy it a lot more than TTGL or Eva, neither of which for the life of me no matter how hard I try I could ever figure out what all the fuss was about for those shows (cue the stupid fanboy nerd raging). My taste in anime are probably way different than the typical Shounen Jump loving anime fan, but the fact I still like AoT should say something about its overall appeal.

And yeah I also sometimes come across anime fans who still haven't gotten from under the proverbial boulder & watched AoT yet. But I think it's mostly because I lately find myself coming across this new type of supposed anime "fan", who for some dumb reason or another insist they "only watched dubbed anime" & thus don't keep up with the latest stuff. I enjoy a good dub when it's done right & all, but to limit oneself to only watching the tiny bit of anime that's been localized and not even giving something a chance just because it doesn't have English audio is insane. It's safe to say we don't run into those types here on CR obviously (I don't think), but honestly those types of fans annoy me way more than the sub only fans.

Either that or the anime fans who like this kind of anime & haven't checked it out yet are the ones who wait for a show to finish its run rather that watch one episode a week. Which is another thing that makes me roll my eyes & shake my head when I hear it, but oh well. Their loss. OK, rant over.

Hmmm, would you be interested in shounen such as Gunslinger Girl? Also, I don't believe that dub only fans are new, they've been around. Just not as widely on the internet like sub only fans, if that makes any sense.

As for Atttack On Titan, I started reading the manga before the anime came out and I think it's a nice adaptation, if nothing else. The art in the manga is rather... poor compared to other works, but he's slowly improving. The pacing in the anime is fine to me, a little slow if you consider how fast most shounen series run, but pacing doesn't bother me because I've seen way slower shows. Also, the world has more substance than the characters do, with one or two exceptions. Though, the show holds no emotional impact on me, and I think the reason I write fan fiction for it is to flesh out the characters more (from 2d to 3d, if you will). It's fun to write, if nothing else.

The structure of the story, the execution of story in the animation is well done. Yes there is more to it, but again it's like I said in OP that I'm sometimes a little contrarian, it's just my wiring. AWA will probably have about 50% AoT cosplay next week at the event. I like how you drew the comparison with Apple as "unnecessarily" (which I concur), I never said AoT didn't deserve the popularity. Much to the contrary, I'm happy for the series.

I guess it goes back to my days when I was doing Radio where I would hunt down garage bands and underground labels. I guess I like the more obscure titles. I do enjoy other popular titles like SAO, etc. I will finish AoT eventually but with Fall2013 Anime Season launching, I'm going to be chasing all the new titles for now.

PS Was in a rush, I apologize for any miswording or misspellings

It's interesting that you're aware of it. Do you sometimes feel it's a hindrance? I think I've had it happen with a few shows for me as well so I can see where you're coming from.

"Attack on Titan [Shingeki no Kyoujin] is this generation's Gurren Lagann in terms of style, scope and hook."

Well then, I am certainly never watching it.

I read through all of the manga today. Why did I find out about this series before it ended? Now I have to wait in between episodes and chapters, lol

I would have watched 26 episodes of "Attack on Eren". His whiny soapbox-righteousness put me right off the show. They hadn't had a titan attack for 100 years but gladly endured a lecture from a small child.....

Anime is a very subjective thing. I consider little girls mooning over which boy is neat-o "whiney"

Some of you consider a child/young man living in a world where giants might literally eat everyone including him and trying to boost morale "whiney"

I like this show. I liked the first episodes a little more but thats to be expected as my brain got used to people being eaten like crackerjacks.

But this show is for a certain type of viewer. I consider it the best of 2013 FOR ME (this or hunterxhunter. Guess I like watching humanity get taken out in job lots this season...) but could completely understand a 1 star rating from someone looking for teen angsty romances, teen swim dramas, or an anime remake of my lil pony.

The first 5 episodes of this show had me thinking this was going to be one of the most memorable shows ever. I think it lost steam somewhere along the way but for me its still topping my que. But again I think this one isnt made for a very wide audience. Its Horror on a pretty grand scale.

I still don't like it. I'm still watching it thinking it will grow into something more, but no. We are two(?) episodes away from the end, and I still don't feel like I care about any of the things on screen at all. I want to like it though, don't get me wrong. It's just that none of the characters in the show does it for me. I don't like them. I don't care if they die(except potato girl). Eren, Mikasa, Whiny-kid. No, no, no. Just die already. It's also damn slow. The pacing is brutal. I like the world and the setting. The first intro was epic. The music overall is decent. But come on, it's over-hyped. I wanted much more than I've gotten so far. The first couple of episodes were really effective. I almost shat my pants when we first see the that über-sized titan behind Eren atop the wall. God, it was good. But now, I'm bored. Sorry. Glad it's almost over. I'm glad people enjoy it, but there's so many other shows they should see before this one.

Score: 2,5/5

oh so all the scenes of the female titan plus that fight between her and eren was boring?

Everyone's been talking about it and I find their uniforms really attractive haha.
There were only nine episodes wheni started and tbh I was gonna wait until it had more episodes since I didn't wanna wait.
But Inoticed Levi is like the god in this anime and I found out Hiroshi Kamiya (who voice Akashi from knb) voice Levi as well and I decided to watch the anime right there and then.

If you read what I said about the three main characters you'd understand what I meant. At this point in the show I don't care about Eren at all. Which is a shame. You should like or connect with the main center of a story. But also, the fights with the female titan ain't that exciting for me. I rather have the terror the titans envoked in the earlier episodes than the action fight titans we got now. That said I still am intrigued to know what the titans are plotting.
