OMG CLASHING OPINIONS, EVERYONE TREAT THEIR OWN OPINION AS FACT!

CosmicZero: Ever checked out Gantz? It's still quite different from the plot and feel of Titan, but it's another pseudo-horror/action/mystery. I myself hold that manga as my absolute favorite despite it degrading a bit towards the end. Either way, steer clear of the anime as it's latter-half is filler and doesn't cover even half the manga's plot, but the animation is also pretty horrid. The manga, however, is a roller coaster ride on crack (with a firecracker shoved up it's ass...but in a good way). Really though, it's nuts...and amazing. I thought I'd never find anything like it again, but Titan has come pretty close in terms of shock-value, mystery and all around hit-the-ground-running action.

Empty words. One man's trash is another man's treasure. New to opinions, are you?
You might as well be farting in the wind. Move along, my sweet little troll; I have no snacks for you!

Let's see.....one battle took 9 episodes. I agree that other shounen shows surprass that often, but it's still ridiculous. This much time isn't needed for all of what happened. I don't even understand why the animation studio is stalling so much. It baffles me when they're so far behind the manga it isn't even funny. Yet, they continue pulling stalling trick after stalling trick. But, who knows? Maybe the manga pulls those tricks too? I haven't read it, so I wouldn't know.

Wait, did I read that correctly? On the one hand it looks like you're complaining the studio is stalling too much when they're supposedly "so far behind the manga it isn't even funny" & then you state that you haven't even read the manga?

I haven't read it either, but from what I've head from people who have, the show is pretty close to being caught up with the manga as it is, or at least close to where the manga was when the show was first green lit.

But... It isn't available in Australia...

Oh well, I guess I'll watch in on Madman's website. It doesn't seem to work very well though...

I looked at this and wasn't interested in the show prior to the sensationalism that followed it. I watched a few minutes of it and didn't find myself interested. So to humor this post I'll finish watching episode 1.

I don't care about it still.

So I'm going back to not watching it now less interested in it than before. You're welcome to disagree with me, say I'm an idiot, call me names, and whatever else you want. I just have zero interest in this series.

The old adage 'opinions and a$$holes' comes to mind. Many people here apparently see themselves as judges, because their opinions that are stated so blatantly as fact is kind of disgusting. You like what you like and you don't like what you don't like; it's as simple as that. But using terms like 'over-hyped' and telling people that they're' wrong' is absolutely ignorant, naive, and downright stupidity at its finest. Some of you can't seem to stand that others have these foreign concepts such as 'opinions'. Those of you preaching need to get off your pedestal and realize that your opinion is just as useless as anyone else. We're here to discuss, not to judge as if your opinion actually means anything but jack-shat to me; if you're going to use it as a way to degrade and somehow make it seem as if you mean anything at all to my opinion. I revel in the fact that my opinion can piss someone off so much.

I personally love the show, and began reading the manga shortly before the anime began airing. I like the manga much more, however, because I am one of the very few who adores the brutal, almost medieval form of artwork that Isayama portrays. To each his own. Then again, I'm not going to call those who hate it 'morons' or 'cannot see the show for what it is'. It is what you see. "BAKAYAROU, KONOYAROU." That whole...elitist attitude. People who talk like that are immature and underdeveloped. We make our own realities. The fact that some people here think that they're more 'correct' than others is horrifyingly hilarious. That throne you think you're sitting on? It's made of porcelain.

Almost all anime and manga is special and amazing in some way. Those jumping on the bandwagon are no more right or wrong than those who refuse to jump on it simply because the bandwagon is full. Fact of the matter is that there is no fuggin' bandwagon and that we are all either liking or disliking the show. Simple. People love to make things out to be much more than they actually are. All of this said, anime and manga are here for enjoyment. Those who can't enjoy...I pity.

^THIS. It's pretty crazy how merely posting your opinion online can get you flamed at a stake and treated like some kind of heretic. The interwebz is such an interesting place.

Personally, I think AOT is unlike any shounen I've seen or read before. What I like about it so much is how it subverts a lot of the shounen clichés I've been exposed to ever since I was a kid. I like how the element of fear is magnified in the series. Usually shounen anime go all out in shoving things like "TEH COURAGE MAKE ME OVERKILLZ!" in your face. It's amusing how at one point, the characters were like "Let's have a contest! Whoever kills the most titans win!" and then a few moments later they all get slaughtered. I mean, if you watch too much shounen, you'd assume that a 'moment of awesome' scene with an upbeat BGM will ensue and then the author goes "LOL NOPE" on you. I like how the disasters in the anime happen without warning and wow, it sure happens a lot and it can happen to anyone... Except maybe Eren. The anime really wowed me but maybe that's because I had low expectations what with the hype it was getting. Ikr? So hipster.

I don't really have any complaints about the pacing since I've seen anime with waaay slower pacing than AOT. Also, Idk if it's just me but I found the supporting characters more likeable than the main ones. Armin is awesome though.

I am 29 years old and have watched a lot of anime. None of my friends are into the stuff however I brought my laptop over to a buddies house and hooked up aot on his 47" tv when he was going through a break up and he was glued to the tv the entire time I was there. He tried so hard to find a flaw with the anime but when it was all over he was hooked and only could say it was "weird" Now I have 2 more friends who watch anime thanks to attack on titan. It's a edge of your seat anime through and though. Once you think there is hope. Don't.

Laughs and giggles for this thread. Fan boys and girls really love this show. I really hope this goes on for 30++ more pages, it is pure comedy.

As for those saying this is the best anime of 2013, and even the best anime ever. I feel you need to expand your anime horizons. I've recently got caught up on some older anime, and a long standing manga converted to an anime. They are simply blowing me away.

So do yourselves a favor, and just open that Crunchyroll anime database. Find something you might fancy, then dive into it. Then this AoT show will just be like meh, because it is a lot of meh. A few sparkles of shiny don't coat a series in SUPER-OMG-AMAZING-BEST-THING-EVER-SAUCE

Oh, the designs are very much intended to look absolutely ridiculous and almost funny. Imagine...seeing such an annoying, hilariously awkward being that moves like Lady GaGa on crack...and then being torn limb-by-limb by that being and consumed by it for no other reason than simply to do so (then regurgitated, so that it can uselessly eat more of your family and friends with a face that looks like Tiny Tim). That kind of humility, that kind of fear of a being that is ridiculous to look at, yet is so much more powerful than you that you can do nothing but cower (for the everyday pedestrians)...it's amazing; I personally think it's genius. "BWAHAHA look at that fool-AHHHHHHHHHH SAVE ME" Bakayarou, konoyarou.

Not that I'm trying to get any naysayers to watch it. I couldn't possibly care less about anyone's opinion outside of one that I can relate to. Those who hate the show- perfectly fine, it's not for you; I get that. But don't be so ignorant to think that anyone here is right or wrong. It's apples and oranges...actually, y'know what? It's not even apples and oranges. It's potatoes and grapefruits. One who 'doesn't get' the show can't relate to one that goes all weak in the knees over seeing the calamities and destruction the show portrays so well. I love brutal manga and anime, and this show knows exactly where my sweet spot is. Now it sounds like I'm talking about something else entirely. I digress. :phew:

Laughs, indeed. Comments like this...they baffle me. We all have our own little likes and dislikes and none of it holds any water because we are all looking out our own personal windows. Everyone, even the 'groups' (the 'loves' and the 'hates') will have differing opinions. Yet somehow you feel that those who like it need to 'expand their anime' repertoire...? Because...you think you know what we've all seen? Are you deluded into thinking you're psychic? Are you really so naive? You've basically just blindly judged and blanketed a community without so much as knowing all of jack-shat. The funny thing is, despite all this, even if someone has seen every single anime that has ever been created, and read every manga ever written, it still wouldn't make his/her opinion of this singular show any more valid. They, and you, either like it or don't like it. It really is that simple.

Yet many people here, you included, can't seem to grasp that very simple concept... It's scary. You talk as if you actually think your opinion is more valid than a cockroach's (but don't take that as a sleight, that goes for everyone, myself included); with sentences like "...as for those saying this is the best anime of 2013". Really? You really think that someone can be 'wrong' about that? That's called an opinion. If someone thinks that, yet haven't watched a single anime besides AoT, they are just as relevant as someone who's seen it all. Magnificent, isn't it? This new concept you're being introduced to.

So many people here ooze ignorance. Pure and unadulterated ignorance. There's very little shows on CR that I haven't already seen. Knowing this, does that make my opinion any more valid to you? If so...then you truly are the perfect definition of 'ignorant'. If not, just the same, because guess what? MO'FUGGIN' OPINIONS. It doesn't mean anything, is the answer. Holy hell. It's like some of you just came out of the womb. You feel we need to expand our horizons... Diglet, please. The mere fact you think you know, or that you even allude to the fact that watching other anime will somehow make their opinion of this show any more valid...it's sad. So, do yourself a favor...and stick to your own little hole, if you're going to throw sand in someone else's.

Then again I'm just as ignorant to think that I could possibly enlighten anyone so blind. It's humor at it's finest. Yet still, so many people will understand nothing of what I've said and continue to think they're better, more entitled, more knowledgeable and thus more opinionated. When the very term 'opinion' equalizes everyone.

All this to say, I don't mean to demean personally, but to think anyone's opinion is 'objective', is ironically objectively ignorant. Everyone here's opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. Someone who thinks that theirs is somehow 'better' or more valid is deluding themselves, and that is pathetic. Sadly there will be much of that both here and in the outside world. Some people are simply lost within themselves. Eyes forever closed.

plz TTGL is very well drawn and interesting in a childish sorta way. it has a delusional unrealistic ideology of " the power of love and friendship will give us super skill and power to defeat anyone" and the arrogant idea "humans are innately superior to any possible sentient race". don't get me wrong, it was a good anime, and worth watching once, but I feel AOT is much more godly.

AOT is a crazy world where realistic characters are thrown in. strategic moves are tandem success and understanding your enemy. No amount of wishful thinking is going to save your ass, it takes skill, determination, proper command, and proper execution. The world is brutally realistic in this regard, and it has not "yet" broken the confines of the world it has created. For people to survive a lot of good people have to die. Plus the skill and fighting scenes of some of the soldiers are just mind blowing. this is one of the best anime's i've every seen.
