NO. I can't imagine why anyone that wasn't Japanese would like that stuff. Them, and probably a few of the psychopath serial killer types you get spattered all over the planet. Oh, and that tentacle stuff, is actually the second worst thing the Japanese have created. I will leave out the worst thing, and attempt to not have nightmares. Anyways, its well known that the Japanese are psychotic. They make some good animes, but are themselves psychotic.

I think that tentacles are one of the most awesome things about anime...

Said No American EVER!!!

In all seriousness, though, I've seen some of that, and it's one of the few things in my life that I wish I could've unseen. How I was able to see it and not rip my eyes out is beyond me.

I will step forth as the first person to admit that tentacles are fan-freaking-tastic. Though, I prefer them to remain out of my daily anime-viewing habits. I'd be pretty shocked and disappointed if tentacles suddenly popped up in Dog Days (ignoring that creepy transformation scene in the second season).

Tentacle scenes are one of the most disgusting things to come out of anime and what makes it worse is that there always seems to be an obligatory "tentacle scene" in allot of shows, they are only one step below all the imouto related shit I mean really Japan why all the little sister and other incest related crap ?

Ask any psychologist, and they will tell you that attraction between step siblings is quite common, particularly if they met sometime around the age of 8-14 years old. It's also common that blood related siblings become attracted to one another if they have been separated some time prior to- or at the early stages of- said point in childhood. This is also why attraction between cousins is (even more) common, especially if they end up living under the same roof. And in case of parental absence, the sibling that acts as a parental replacement to the other sibling might even be imprinted upon. This is why teacher/nurse/boss vs young/teenage boy/girl is also common. It is basic nature vs. nurture.

Feel free to incorrectly correct me by using what can only be described as no empirical data or rational thought at your disposal.

Still doesn't change the fact it's disgusting and all too abundant in anime, especially in harems and you might want to cut out that superior tone with me, acting all high and mighty on the internet is a very sad and pathetic thing to do.

Don't get me wrong, I love anime and manga... and generally enjoy alot of things about Japanese culture. However, there are some hardcore sadistic impulses in alot of the sexualized content they produce... with the tentacle thing being only one small example. If one were so inclined, you could even say that some strongly misogynistic themes are very prominent -- and I do have to wonder if this mentality does not contribute to the disconnect between the sexes that has lead to the nosediving birthrate.

At any rate, if you find this attractive I think that cannot be a good indicator for your likelihood to have a successful, healthy, loving relationship with real woman.

I like you.

For a parallel viewpoint, it can make a world of difference if you actually have a younger sibling of the opposite gender. I'm not saying either way, but it definitely influences your thoughts on the matter.

For example, I have a younger sister, and while I have no hatred or distaste for sibling love in anime, I just couldn't see myself crossing that line, and so thus, have a difficult time logically accepting another persons (or anime character in this case) inclination to do so. As I said, this doesn't affect my enjoyment of such a series (like Oreimo, although I hated the ending to that for a variety of complicated reasons that weren't simply who he ended up picking), but it does affect a shows relate-ability in my case, and relate-ability is usually a huge factor for me in judging a show.

All that being said...tentacle related scenes are not really my thing, but neither are romantic comedy movies. If you don't like something, don't watch it. In every medium there is going to likely be a genre or something else that you don't like, and that's called a preference. Clearly there are folks who enjoy that type of thing, which is why it gets made. As a consumer you can excercise your right to choose and just not watch it. Criticizing and insulting those who do is creating an unnecessary wall between you and other people enjoy the very same medium you do just because of their preferences in that medium, which is stupid.

If you like tentacle stuff...good for you. I don't prefer it, so I don't watch it, doesn't mean I insult the person, we all love anime at the end of the day.
