The one thing I've long found CR to be consistently worse at doing than fansubs is typesetting signs and the like. I can understand that the video player isn't able to support all the styles and placements that proper subtitle programs can, and it normally suffices (and sometimes actually is fairly decent: http://i.imgur.com/IFBEJg0.png).

That said, stuff like this is REALLY irritating when you can't even read most of the lines (Gatchaman 11): http://i.imgur.com/rTt721U.jpg

Do the CR staff watch through the episodes afterwards to QC them at all? Even if it is just to check that the subtitles are readable, it would really help with the quality of the videos. Thanks

QC is one of the steps that should be done by the translation staff before the episode is sent over to CR.

That being said, I watched that episode last night (on the 360 app), and don't remember that overlap. Stuff was moving around a lot during that section, so are you sure that wasn't illegible for only a couple seconds?

Shows are QC'ed however there is always room for improvement (and subtitles can be tricky. I've fixed some issues like the one in the image).

Below the Flash Player on every show is a link that says 'Video Playback Problems'.
If you click on that then select 'Subtitle Issues' you can tell us exactly what is wrong (possibly include a screenshot) and then send us an email and our Subtitles team will take a look at / make corrections.

Glad to hear! I'll try to remember that link if I see problems like this again, didn't know it was there before.

Thanks

I have been trying to view episode 46 on the roku box. Why is the subtitles incomplete? The dstreaming of subtiltles on the internet is complete but the one that is streamed into the Roku box transmition is cut off so that half of the dialog cannot be read. Please correct this.

Episode 46 of what series?

By any chance is it an older program that is in 4:3 format instead of widescreen?
