Would have expected this on Goregrish maybe. Not so much here. I wonder what they'll be serving at the policeman's ball this year

Wow, I remember hearing about this on news. I still don't understand why he let them loose in the first place.

Makes me so sad
Wish they didn't have to kill them...
Wish the guy didn't kill himself.

I did not embellish the information at all. As you can see at the bottom of the page I cited where the information came from. This is purely information that i stumbled upon and did not write myself.

I remember hearing this story as it was happening. Yeah, it's sad, but there's no one to blame but the owner himself. The point of releasing his wild animals to the open was lunatic. Either he was trying to free them before dying or he was trying to go out in a desperate bang...both of which are unacceptable.Had he left them in their cages, they most certainly would have survived and been transported to the zoo. Were people really blaming the police for shooting them? How ridiculous. Getting tranquilizers would have taken a lot of time, and time was something they didn't have. So yeah, I blame the owner and no one else.

Yeah, I remember this story. They should have used tranquilizers, never mind that, but I think you embellished the information. I never heard anything about the animals charging the officers even after they were "riddled with bullets." How bad were the officers' aims anyway? Were they letting loose with machine guns? Is this a zombie game? Why would you post this? Did you not here about this happening back when it happened?
I don't know if they ever found one of the monkeys.

It can actually be fairly difficult to kill large animals like this if you're not experienced doing it. It's not like they were shooting some guys dog. And no, they should not have used tranquilizers.

Never hunted huh? you might have to use one or two rounds on a small deer, but 2 grizzlies? I'm sure the officers were using a caliber you don't use on Grizzlies, it just pisses off the bear. Grizzlies will take several large caliber rounds easily, and still tear you in half. When I go into the Bob Marshall Wilderness area I pack a .45 slide (and I'm just hiking). As far as tranquilizers go, do the police stock tranquilizer that will take down a 350 Kg animal? I wouldn't think so, so yeah the only option was to use pea shooters to take down large predators, I don't relish the thought, but it was probably the best option, after all, the clock was running. The longer they waited, the more likely an innocent was going to get chowed down or mauled.

See, I just tried to skip over my personal beliefs about animals and not go into it in my last post. I mentioned the tranquilizer thing as briefly as I could because I know it is impractical. However, I am a crazy animal lover (vegetarian and all that stuff...) so it is hard for me to not say anything about killing all those animals. I feel there was a better way, but I acknowledge that I have no experience dealing with a dozen loose tigers in my town. I'm also not a wildlife expert. I'm not going to rant on here like I know all the things in the world either.

Also the hard to kill large animals thing, yes I do know that much. I mentioned all that because I remember listening to the news follow the story for days, yet I never heard the story told with the animals charging the officers after being shot several times. I feel this part was a bit too dramatic. Whatever though, old news.

Well, the main problem with the animals is there was nothing that could be done with them at that point. I can name three reasons why they ultimately would have been killed anyway.

1. They had tasted human flesh. Though they did not kill their owner, they had eaten him. This is not good.

2. Its not clear how the animals were raised. Adjusting them to new environments would be both dangerous and expensive.

3. Capturing and releasing them back to the wild would be dangerous because of number 1. And they would most likely perish quickly after anyway because they were raised in captivity.

And I'm not being mean to you or anything. Just using your posts to base my response to this thread on :P.
