The Purge

Actually it's for 12 hours... But I'd most likely buy the highest and safest security system, not open the doors for anyone and keep weapons close... Just cause you never know what sort of things some people come up with these days O_O

Except that whoever makes your security system could easily do so planning to get into every house that has it when the purge time came around. That's what I would do. Sell people that nice safe feeling most of the time and then take everything that one night.

Move to a different country where the government officials aren't idiots for allowing something this stupid to happen.

Steal as much money as I possibly could then get me and my family out of the country.

I saw the purge and I thought it was interesting. Me though, I would lock my doors and windows and watch all the action on tv

I wouldn't do anything except stay indoors.

Also, I haven't seen this movie, but I find the concept frustrating, because I don't have such a cynical view of humans. Even with mob mentality and the like going on, I just do not believe that most people would suddenly become criminals just because they can get away with it.

(Also, who would agree to something like that in the first place? Given that most people don't seem to want to do worse than robbery, would you really consider the money you could steal worth giving people the opportunity to not only steal it right back, but also rape/torture/murder/etc. you and your loved ones without consequence?)

Bingo. The laws we have are there because they facilitate a good working society, not because we'd degenerate into neanderthals without them. Sure, they're clumsy and a huge hassle, but generally speaking, what keeps most people from commiting crimes like murder, assault, or rape isn't the law. It's that either they just don't want to, like the vast majority of people, or fear the social repercussions (not the legal ones), like a good many of those remaining. The law only comes into play when it comes to people who both want to commit these crimes, and don't care what people think about them as a result, and I have trouble believing that's more than 1% of people, and that's if I'm being cynical.

Me? I'd join in with the inevitable billions of protesters around the world and put a stop to a blatantly bad idea. I'd also have a lot to say about why people in positions of power are arbitrarily kept safe. Or better yet, I'd leave that all up to everyone else, and do my usual 'stay at home and have fun' routine.

... ... ... Am I able to take back my answer?... I'm going to go get some super samurai training and be ready for anyone who decides to break into my house... >:) ... or fly to a remote island where purges don't happen (but that's just boring)
