Post Reply How To Fix GIF's in Photoshop

This is pretty self explanatory.

1. In order to fix the glitchy gif issue you have to 'uncheck' the "Transparency"- option that is often left 'checked' by default. That is it. That is all you have to do to fix the glitchy gif.

2. In blue text, for those who aren't used to using Photoshop, I've written a small "How To" make the gif smaller in size. CrunchyRoll demands that gifs are under 3MB, but 3MB is still pretty big. E.g. Tumblr.com has a maximum size of 1MB per gif. Remember, a lot of people are going to download these files, some of whom must download these files repeatedly because of their browser settings, and that is very demanding of the website's bandwidth. It is also demanding of the user and their internet connection, should there be many gifs present on one page.

3. Everything that has been crossed out in black are unimportant / does little to improve the gif's size. Sometimes, I use "Lossy" as a last resort, but it makes the gif look very ugly.

Thanks for this. I don't know much about Photoshop, only GIMP. Perhaps it's fine time for me to make a tutorial as well...

Also, I'd like to point out that this method only works if transparency exists in the image, and not if it's already filled with CR's #EEEEEE transparency-filling grayness.

Ah, yes. If a gif has already been uploaded to CrunchyRoll and filled with white scratches, this method will not fix the issue, because the gif is already ruined. This is just to make sure that the gif will not be ruined when it gets uploaded to CrunchyRoll.

So, it's not post-repair, it's pre-repair.
