Okay, I know everyone lies. Why do you lie?

Is it to make someone feel better? To hurt someone? I lie because sometimes the truth isn't ready to be told. The truth may destroy that someone and then what will you have? A guilty conscious and a life time of regret. When the right time comes, i will tell this person but for now i will safe guard thier heart and make sure they see another day.

I lie to get people off my back, sometimes, but I almost never do otherwise. My friends know that despite my good intentions, I can't be trusted with secrets, because when asked about them, I'll invariably tell the truth. I hate lying unless it's related entirely to my own business. When other people are involved, I'm quite honest, and it's easy to know when I am lying, because I have to visibly force it out - I'm just not used to it.

When it comes to my own private affairs, it's another story, though. I claimed to be asexual up until about age 20, for example, since even though I'm as much of a closet perv as the next guy, I didn't feel like I was prepared to be in a relationship: claiming to be patently uninterested in romance was just the easiest way to avoid it. I also have a tendency to lie when I've had something to do and procrastinated on it. If anybody pokes their nose in enough to be a nuisance, I'll just straight-up tell them that the task is done. Usually this gives me the motivation I need to actually go and do it: I don't want my reputation to suffer.

Here comes the cliche "honesty is the best policy" thing.

Does telling little white lies hurt just as much?!

I lie so that other people in society won't reject me.
I lie so that other people in society won't lock me up.
I lie so that other people in society won't kill me.

Because sometimes the truth is overrated

Also some lies make life funnier, like pranks

I lie when I have to. I personally don't think it's a bad moral.

I usually lie when I know the truth will make the problem totally worse than it should be, whether I'm included in the problem or not. Sometimes the truth can make everything crumble in a basket. Hence the saying, "the truth hurts".
