Post Reply Black screen?
Posted 9/26/13
Every time i attempt to watch a video on crunchyroll, a black screen shows up and i am unable to view it. I have tried refreshing the page and it doesn't help. Although i can watch videos almost anywhere else (youtube, Netflix, etc) Anyone have a solution? Thanks ^^

Have you tried updating your flash player, or changing browsers?

What browser do you use to stream on crunchyroll?

U can try clearing your web browser's cache/temporary internet files and seeing if that helps.

I've tried all the above. Changing browsers, deleting cache from the browser and flash player. Doesn't seem to work. Other crunchy roll videos seem to load fine though, just not the one I'm trying to watch. It seems to be a recurring issue that pops up from time to time.

Does choosing another resolution work? Occasionally I've found that an episode simply seems to be unavailable at one resolution so switching to another just for that episode works.

I tried that too, but all I got was some text from what I'm guessing is the first frame after a while. I'm not sure what it could be, since other series seem to be working fine for the most part. I was trying to watch this one: http://www.crunchyroll.com/the-world-god-only-knows/episode-1-flower-in-bloom-573612?t=0&p1080=1

It's happened before when watching other stuff, or released that day videos, but those times it went away if I kept refreshing or tried some other time.

That episode also took some time for me to initiate playback, but it eventually did.
Though that could also be related to my geographical location.

It started for me, but then froze. Since then, it's started to happen for other series. Like the latest "Log Horizon", and for "When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace". Which is odd, since that series worked fine just a couple of days ago. They load after a while, but then freeze again.

I even tried playing through Ubuntu instead of Windows, but it didn't solve it.

I noticed that I was able to load the video on my Kindle Fire though, through the app, which although a little buggy sometimes, I managed to get going and watch without any lag.

You might be onto something with the geography, though it seems odd that it's only for certain videos or series, and that it doesn't affect the app.

At this point, I'm just really curious as to cause.
