I hardly believe that would happen.Anime/manga is still, rather undeveloped and new.And what are you saying?Sure, many of the plot bases are the same, but originality still exists. It's the same as saying, people will grow out of reading books-not likely. And I agree with allaroundcool about the anime industry in the United states~There are thousands of articles regarding how popular anime sales/stocks have increased these past 15 years. And since when do art styles lose fashion or disappear?Almost every art style is preserved.amen.

I don't think it would end soon, but I do think it will be facing harder times as Japan has had a very low birthrate for many years, piracy will counting to cut into its profits, etc. I imagine some studios and distributors will go under and there will be less production, but it will survive--though probably not thrive-- through the 21st Century.

In 1995, 15.9% of the population in Japan was 15 or under. By 2004, it was down to 13.9%, and is projected to hit 13.0% this year. By 2020, the projection is for only 10.8% of the population to be under 15.

Total population growth over the past decade has barely inched forward (from 126.87 million in 2000 to 127.7 million in 2008).

More worrisome is possible competition from other countries. Almost all animation aired in Korea used to originate in Japan, but now 30-40% is produced domestically. Korean anime in the U.S. is something of a rarity at this point, but that could change drastically in the next 20 years.

I don't think anime will disappear, but the industry in Japan could end up as a shadow of its former self in the coming decades. I think the international market will also become a more important factor for those that survive.

Yes i do, well online translation versions anyway since manga publishers have taken a step forward in licensing their mangas online i think its only time before the anime companies do the same.

Most likely not. Like you said, it's an art form. I think the only possible way for anime to end is only if Japan suddenly stopped creating anime altogether. However, that is very doubtful.

Anime is a art form plain and simple, here the thing like every type of art out their sooner or late it will become a relic of the past where rich fool fight over collecting it. However to the general public A new type of art form takes it place.

So in my opinion a major change will happen until the point in which anime is so different that it name change.

Are it goes extinct and become a relic of the past.

If it does not change i give it 50 years max before it start to become a relic

Yes art form never disappear completely, however they do become relic in which only a small % of the world keep interest in them.

Since anime is a story base art form it hard to keep it going none stop forever, since in the end their is only 15 basic story line in which ever story known to humans, follow one of those basic 15 story's.
So in the end if a giant change does not take place anime will end before another 50 years comes to pass.
For since every living thing dies's so do what we make shall share the same fate.
However as long as more living things come into being new things as well will be born from their minds.
In the end new art form will come to pass and the public will fall in love with these new art forms and forget the old ones.

It will so long as crap companies like ViZ media and Funimation are allowed to Americanize and BUTCHER the original piece of work.

I don't think anime will ever be gone. It has lasted this long. And there are way too many of us fans out there. I mean Cloudji might be right in the fact it may evolve enough that the name may change but I think it will still survive in one form or another
