Anime ending, nope don't see that happening anytime soon. After reading the 1st post I would site your change in the the fact that American Comic companies are starting to get involed in anime Like Top Cow, Image, Marvel, DC, and Pow (A Stan Lee owned company). I think this will only help anime and help reinforce it. Even broaden viewership cause people's favorite characters in comics are going anime. As for Anime its been going since the 1960s'. I deffenet don't see it going out of style. With new forms of animation always coming out and the way they can plug in CG. Anime will continue to evolve and getting better as time goes on.

Will it change? Yes, though not a whole lot. Disappear? Not likely. There is a lot of tradition in Japan. Even now, a fair amount of animation studios choose to use pen and paper over stylus and tablet. As an art form onto itself, it's only about 50 years old or so, Astro Boy being one of the first, dating back to the early 60s('64 iirc). We've had other forms of analog art for hundreds and thousands of years. Painting for example.

I think the only change that will happen over the course of the next decade or so is that studios will embrace the tablet. IMO it kinda sucks too, I always like that anime was done "the old fashioned" way, not many things are anymore.

Ya I can appreciate the artwork of the older animes as well, but with out animes of the likes of Ghost in the Shell pushing the limits of animation from time to time. Anime may get stagnant. Ever since anime started the style has changed over and over again. Opening up more, visuals becoming more impressive. For anime to have staying power. Like everthing it has to evolve with the times, but with some respect of what came before.

Movies have been around 100+/- years and have come a long way since day 1. Animation will be around but may morph into something different than the way we view it now. Dagarasu (2 yr old post) covered some good options for animation. Anime imitates themes in movies, movies incorporate anime themes into their storyline. Over time the technique may change but as long as there is an audience to appreciate the craft I'm sure it will endure.
