Bandai Visual is gone, and there are no other companies that have the rights to MSG?

looking at the prices of the dvd collections of Zeta, 08th MS team, stardust, they are all so expensive

Why? because bandai vis isnt around anymore, and they were the ones with all the rights.

When will funimation grab the rights to MSG, and start releasing the series, if ever?

And also, can we even expect that to happen?

THATS why im asking if its possible another company will ever get the rights to MSG, because the reason these DVD prices are insane is because they arent around any more, so they automatically jack up in price, and its stupid.

ALSO, a new translation was good, but no where near as good as the 50 episode Zeta series its derived from.

I know if you're lucky you can find a good deal on a DVD set at a convention possibly. I know the feeling though, I'm not a gundam fan, but I can't find Higurashi for sale anywhere, as well as a bunch of other series I would LOVE to own. Funi likes to pick up old geneon and bandai releases, so maybe you'll get lucky?

Gundamn 00 was the last good one IMO Sunrise made. (Unicorn is OVA so I don't count it) You can pick the whole thing up for $120 with the movie. Go find a Cowboy Bebop and you will that For $100. THATS why Gundamn is not been picked up. Shows like Bebop can for 25 episodes can call $100 tags while 00 is about $45-$55 for each 25 episode run.... yeah do the math Funi sees popularity in other things besides gundamn. They should get it but it might not command the value sunrise will ask for it and Funi sells at.

Thats BS man, as much as i dont like dealing with funimation, i would rather them pick it up and sell it for less for a reasonable price, it HAS to happen at some point, its ridiculous if it doesn't.

and who has the rights to Unicorn, and who is releasing it?

Universal Century is more important to the franchise than any alternate timeline series, ugh, funimation sucks (imo)

At Otakon i sough G Gundam for $300 and Gundam Wing for $250. I keep an eye on Ebay waiting for the day someone puts them up for a good deal not realizing how much they are worth. I do not think Funimation will be getting the Gundam Series because of how much it would cost to get the series, Sunrise may get a couple of the Gundam Series though.

By many accounts, Sunrise and Bandai Japan are waiting for a company that can take on the entire catalog, rather than selling off titles piecemeal to the highest bidder.

Bandai Visual has been releasing the Blu-rays globally through their Honneamise label, and can be ordered through http://rightstuf.com.

AH HA HA HA HA

BWAHA HAHA HAHA!

Yeah, even convention's know the price of dem gundam series! I rarely find someone even selling it at the Amazon price, let alone the same price as everything else they'll have on stock!

Gundam series are generally 50 episodes and get split into the two season collections. I don't think the price has too much to do with the availability of them. They're not hard to find and aren't in the highest of demand. That said, anybody who WANTS a UC Gundam, BUYS the UC Gundam's. 80 for half of MSG or MSZG ain't too bad.

I actually picked up Zeta Gundam at $65 a half. That's why I own it but not MSG.

Altho to have someone for once translate and port ZZ, Turn A, Victory, and After War X would be fantastic!

I actually own a bootleg After War X, with Chinese and English subtitles! It was 15 bucks. Totally worth it.

Quick question, what's the problem with Funimation?
They've got a reputation/mission statement of always releasing Dubbed anime, and they tend to take a lot of artistic license. They'll also stick to the high-sellers and popular shounen/ecchi/action series.

They've also got cheap prices yet underwhelming extras....but do you really need Extras? My ADV Films release of Neon Genesis Evangelion has English/Japanese/Spanish/French voices, but I'm probably not going to use Spanish and French much.

Gundam is also a niche franchise. It's high selling, massive and long, and not worth it in pieces. the 25 Episode Gundam's can easily sell for a hefty 80-100 a season, since fans WILL buy them. Those who aren't interested ain't going to buy Gundam, be it a cheap 40 or hefty 90. Gundam just has that age and reputation.

And since the other versions are still and forever out there, good luck finding someone new to buy Gundam selling rights! You can't make Gundam cheap, distributing it takes monaaaaaaaaay, and the buyers are rather....low.

Give it a few years, add a few more AU's to the mix. Then someone might pick it up and give us all of them. Or Sunrise will be nice and piecemeal the un-translated and no-port Gundams to us.
