PlayStation is the "master race," sir. PlayStation has to build supercomputers just to run the programming for the PS consoles...

I take offense at "hipster" being used...offensively. haha

I'm shocked that no one has brought up what, in my mind, is the definitive reason why PCs alone aren't enough.

NINTENDO.

Sure, you may not be the biggest fan, but I think we can "all" agree that they are the makers of some of the greatest games in the industry. Many of the games that other systems and PCs play owe their very existence to Nintendo's pioneering. You won't get any of those games on the computer (not legally, and those who refuse to compensate people for their work aren't who I am addressing.) Also, handheld consoles are a big thing. Most PlayStation [handheld] games can be easily emulated, but the Vita and DS centric titles are all rather exclusive. Some games are just watered down/portable cousins of "big" games, but games that fully utilize the systems' hardware are quite a compelling reason to like consoles.

In summation. Nintendo. Handhelds. Two reasons the PC isn't enough.

Perhaps not for you. Conversely someone who doesn't mod games or like fussing with set up play MMOs has less use for a PC. so much so that rather than say 'not enough' say unnecessary.

As I was saying in my post YOUR mileage may Vary. No one here has a monopoly on the truth because quite simply, most of the value judgements people make about the game platform of their choice are subjective and personal NOT objective and universal.

Can your Xbox 360 verison of Left 4 Dead 2 let you play as Reimu, Lucario, Ellis in his boxers, and Youmu?:

PC Master Race all day everyday although I do go back to the consoles for those console-only games.

I started out on consoles as a kid, and eventually got into PC gaming, and just fixing/building PC's as a hobby.

I primarily am gaming on the PC. What really shines for me is the customizability of the PC. Different hardware choices, User Mods, you can choose how you play, input devices, etc its all open. Steam Sales, dedicated servers, and the precise control of a KB/M all are great.

However, I dont consoles out. They are great when you have people over. I love playing Super Smash Bros Brawl with my friends, and games like Halo are still amazingly fun. You can relax on the couch and just sit back and have fun. There is no drivers, no trouble shooting, etc.

Primarily I am a PC gamer but I dont think PC automaticly trumps consoles. THey both have their place and to not try one or the other really is a shame.

Well then...

First off. You don't have to justify yourself to anybody. It doesn't matter if there's holes in your logic. The people who claim to be part of the master race, or threaten to shoot and castrate you or attempt to label you as developmentally challenged because you don't game the way they do, are frankly acting one and and all, like a bunch of MORONIC JERKS who aren't worth your time and attention. Let alone any amount of angst. It doesn't matter weather they are adherents of the cult of PC, Xbox, Apple, or Playstation, IF they couch it in terms of contempt because THEIR value system disagrees with yours then they are behaving like narrow minded idiots. You may now laugh at their juvenile antics. Pure comedy gold. As soon as words ending in '-tard' or ones like 'Failstation' or 'Xbone' come up you can recognize that they've run out of facts and/or logic. As soon as the name calling starts, the person laying about with the insults has effectively already admitted they have nothing left. They might as well run up a white flag and be done with it.

That said, everyone had their own reasons why they prefer a particular way of gaming.

Myself, My computer desk in my bedroom is my sanctum sanctorum where I don't have to put on make up or wear prosthetic teats to be... me. My computer is one stop shopping replacing a console, a tv, even a radio or boom box. It's my work station for writing, research and some light reading. It entertains me in all sorts of ways. With my large screen hi-res monitor a pair of steelseries(tm) headphones and fan to keep me, cool MY computer replaces 99% of home electronics for me. YOUR Mileage May Vary.

My console such as it is, is a PS 2. I bought it new from the retailer for $80 during the Christmas that the PS 3 was all the rage. Likewise the suite of games at my disposal were almost universally bought from the bargain bin. With an A/C outlet and tv with RCA jacks, I have a transportable diversion that has lasted 3.5 years without me finishing any of my games. Let alone exhausting their replay value. It's single player, offline only, no DRM and easily sharable ( HERE!) If I were going to act like a stupid dickhead I'd point and laugh. As well as call everyone who bought anything newer a fag and retard. Though, again, I'm not sure why losing an argument means the other person is gay, or why there should be anything wrong with being gay. Loser strategy IMO.

My point is...

IF it works for you it works. Everything has pros and cons. For you. your console has more pros that you love over cons that you tolerate. Maybe frame rate REALLY MATTERS to your friend. Or maybe, since he's trying to be superior, his ego needs some THING to compensate for other insecurities. You are not him. He is not you. Each of you should enjoy playing the way you play.

But don't put up with any hipster douchebaggery just because someonelse's meat is your poison.

In the wise wise words of the Immortal Bobby Burns:

"It's a good thing we don't all like the same things. Think of what a Haggis shortage there would be."

Mhmm.

I don't take a side when it comes to pc vs console, I can't argue that one is better than the other. I'm simply trying to understand the psychological reason that brings people to PC more than Consoles. I'm really into statistics, (even though it isn't my chosen major), and relating one thing to the other, finding the common link(s) that attaches persons to their decisions. Most of my posts are for learning reasons and information. I'm an information fiend. That's why I can't side with any one thing, I can see the pros and cons of every side.

That might also be why i do more reading on forums than i ever do posting

This is obviously a personal preference flame war, but here is how i view it:

Consoles are more reliable and easier to turn on and play with simple interaction. Better for multiple gamers or viewers.

PC's are more powerful and flexible but require more interaction and customization. Better for individual play.

Well from a pure statistical point of view, a sample size of three is impossible to use for anything meaningful.

I think there are too many factors that go into such a decision. Further I think they are as much about a time and a place as they are about the person. There was a time when I was a very active ps 2 user. Renting an Xbox got me hooked on KOTOR which then resulted in BIOWARE dictating the specs for every new computer purchase for nearly a decade.

anyone who is not emotionally invested in their choice of console/computer for reasons unrelated to their objective pros and cons. Might have reasons to favour one over another at one time. and reverse themselves later.

Oh and a little somewhat relevant and amusing tidbit from the escapist.

Personally, I'm a fan of both. There are things that a PC can do far better then a console, but a console is just easier and more user friendly.

I have a PC that can handle whatever you throw at it on High/Ultra settings, but also play on a PS3/PS4 (soon) quite regularly. Plus with a bit of troubleshooting you can plug any controller into a PC pretty much and get that ease of use feel.

i used to feel that way until i started playing stuff on pc however i don't find anything wrong with using one over the other unless you really only care aobut graphics and fps etc

that being said i think pcs are better to get they are cheaper and can upgrade for cheaper than buying the new consoles when they come out

also you can use a controller for most pc games

see on a pc i could easily play those games on an emulator and support them by buying the game that counts right?

I've got all the consoles and I keep coming back to my 7 year old PC all of the games look and perform better... not to mention the mods for extra content. However no master race feels here XD, Consoles for exclusives and PC for everything else

So my brother, my friend, and myself all have relatively equivalently spec'd computers, we are able to play all current games at 1080p high settings above 50fps, but Only my brother and I feel as if the consoles still provide a better gaming experience. My friend on the other hand has given into the "master race" of PC.

I'm just not getting those feels, as obvious as it is that the games look better on PC, I don't feel comfortable gaming through a PC. I'd rather be using a console oto game, maybe because I'm so used to it, but that doesn't explain why my friend gave in.

Even if it is the master race, i still want to play on my ps3 :/

Anybody else get these feelz?

I like console better but recently my ps3 broke so now i'm playing PC until the next gen comes out. I really want my console back this doesn't feel right
