App version: 7.11
OS: ICS
Device: Samsung Exhilarate

Just some quick things regarding the android app:

1. The app often crashes on startup locking the device up for about 30 seconds. This seems to have nothing to do with free memory on my device. I also occasionally get just a white screen and have to force quit and restart the app.

2. Is there any way to turn off subtitles? (I have tried changing the default setting under video preferences to blank, but it doesn't work for the app or the website.) Incidentally, it would be nice to be able to change the setting from the app itself.

3. (Resume, queue, and new episodes have required that I log out and back in.)

4. Is there any way to browse a series from the beginning rather than the latest episodes? It can be tedious scrolling through 300 episodes to find a particular one.

Thanks!

Have you tried the setting between UK English and Portuguese (I believe that is Japanese)?

I believe setting it to blank just uses the default for your detected region.

Keep in mind the subtitles on the Android app are hard encoded, so unsubtitled encodes would have to exist for a series for even that to be effective. I believe this could also result in any series that didn't have such encodes also disappearing from availability on your device.

Hmm...

Thanks for the reply,

Changing the language setting to Japanese does not work. Because there are no Japanese subtitles, the video showed the next available language when using the website (so I got Turkish subtitles instead of none) and I actually get English subtitles on my Android device regardless of my settings as far as I can tell (I tried logging in and out and restarting the app, but this didn't help)

Of course for the website I can just right click to change the subtitles, but it would be a nice option to have none as default. I really don't see why this shouldn't be an option on Android either (on the smaller screen the subtitles are just an annoyance for me)

You could pull some logs and email us - support@crunchyroll.com:

(Log info belowwwww)
Thank you for your follow up.

Would you be able to download and install the following program:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&hl=en

Can you then run the Crunchyroll app until you encounter the error again?

After you have encountered the error, please exit the app and then run Logcat to pull a log of the errors.

If you can do this and then send us the results it will help our engineers find out what is going on with the app.

Apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for supporting Crunchyroll.

Hi guys, was just about to start on watching episode 2 of Strike The Blood which has not long been updated on the app over here in the UK through my Sony Xperia U phone, everything else is ok, images, sound, etc, apart from the subtitles, which are coming up in Spanish/Portuguese? They're meant to be in English! This is the first time anything like this has ever happened & am hoping it can be resolved fast & soon so that I may continue to carry on with & enjoy the episode before the end of the night

It's not unusual for the various devices' subtitles to lag behind the web player. Sometimes there re production delays in getting them translated, and for some reason Spanish seems to get done first before English. I get that sometimes on the ROKU as well. If it's more than an hour after the release time though, and they are still displaying in an incorrect language, and your language settings are correct, then you probably should report it via the "Contact us" link at the bottom of every CR page under Support, the fourth column over.

Thank you, I will give it another hour from now in the hope that it decides to sort itself out

EDIT: Didn't even have to wait that long! It's all subtitled in English now as normal!
