First time ever making a topic in any forum!

Anyway I was just watching Nichijou the other day (my 4th time rewatching the entire series) and I came to realise that this is the anime that I always watch when I'm feeling down. It almost happens subconsciously; I just end up queuing it up!

Though I have to say the humour of the show (which is incredible) isn't the only thing that makes it so special to me. I first watched the series in early May 2012 as I was getting ready for my nearest convention (Anime North). I had attended both 2010 and 2011, but this was the first time I was going with my entire group of friends and it was one of the most exciting times of my life. I guess I just tied the anime to those feelings. :)

How about you guys? What anime series do you watch when you're a little down in the dumps? Is there a story behind it? Or maybe it could be an awesome anime OP/ED song that does the trick (Redial by livetune/Miku and Irony by ClariS are my personal faves).

I'll watch clips from funny anime or just crack clips in general. Stuff like Azumanga Daioh for instance.

AMVhell is always a good pick-me-up.

If I want something nostalgic I'll watch a classic anime that gives me FEELS regardless of the genre. Can range anywhere from Sailor Moon to Evangellion. My tastes are broad and vary.

What anime series do you watch when you're a little down in the dumps?

I like watching Yu Yu Hakusho; especially the episodes when Yusuke doubts his abilities.
His master shows up telling him,
"when the going gets tough, are you just going to quit? So, what if you were born more spiritual energy than a normal person. You are used to having a silver spoon on your mouth. But now, things don't work you won't dig enough. Fight for what you believe in and commit all the way."

Those statements won't sink in if the poignant background music wasn't playing at all.

I'm like, "Damn ninjas. Cutting onions right into my eyes."

My Ordinary Life always manages to put a smile on my face, too. Other than that, there's also Gintama, Kimi ni Todoke, Aria...

I'm sure there'd be others if I re-watched more of my DVDs.

Don't really have any, but if I had to pick some it would probably be...

Space Brothers, Acchi Kocchi, Humanity Has Declined & Redline...

Never been a huge fan of the average Slice of Life, and the shows I tend to re-watch always end up making me feel melancholic afterwards because that it ended was sad - and even more so the way it ended.

I was considering sticking Reline in my post; I guess I have watched it about half a dozen times now and I always enjoy the ride.

I know what you mean about your second comment, though. For example, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is one of my favorite movies, but it never leaves me "cheery" when the credits start to roll.

Sorry folks. This is a good topic but there's already a thread that covers it. Please contribute your "pick-me-up" anime shows there:
