I hate the fanbase for most of the things I enjoy, because most of the time the fans of one thing decide to hate the other in that category. I try to stay subjective and just have fun and enjoy the things that I like without having to be paranoid or put my curiosity to rest by trying to interact with the rest of the world and have their opinions shoved down my throat as if they were pure fact. "OMG NARUTO IS SO GAY IT'S 99% FILLERS I WISH IT WOULD END EVERY NARUTO FAN IS RETARDED! - FACT!".

Good example, I enjoy playing Xbox and Playstation, I've owned every generation of console. I have to put up with wars, raging and whining about which is best, when in all of my time gaming I've never once witnessed an instance where one is clearly superior (except possibly PS4 vs Xbox One, but even so I will own both).

Call of Duty vs Battlefield. Again I enjoy both franchises, I buy every game and put in solid amounts of hours into each yet all I hear all day is "Wah Call of Duty same game, full of noobs and kids, full of immature people, LOL FISH AI" and statements such as these from the apparently 'mature' gamers.

2D fighters vs 3D fighters, specifically Street Fighter and Tekken arguments which have gone on for well over a decade. No game is superior, they are completely different in aesthetics, mechanics and playstyles and both are fun and competitive in their own ways. Personally I enjoy the tournament scene for the majority of fighting games, even the ones I don't play a lot such as BlazBlue.

Anime in general has a horrible fanbase, and although I don't watch much, the series that I do enjoy, people still argue which is superior, who is the strongest, which series you're an idiot for enjoying. Personally I don't like fanservice at all, so that limits me to enjoying about 1% of anime.

Music is another big one. I'm clearly into my metal music, I enjoy such a vast range of metal music, to list a few - death, black, viking, folk, oriental, vedic, industrial, symphonic, atmospheric, doom, avant-garde, space, sludge, thrash, power, heavy, and a million sub-categories between. I own over 1 Terabyte worth of music and an iTunes playlist over a year long in length, but every time I'm watching a youtube video all of the comments are just pointing hatred towards bands, or completely unrelated bands such as Cradle of Filth, Slipknot, etc.

Even the movies I enjoy, I'm apparently not allowed to enjoy for whatever reasons, such as giving the director more money to make more multi-million selling 'crap', or that I shouldn't watch it because it has subtitles, and it's foreign.

Don't even get me started on the League of Legends vs DOTA2 vs HoN discussions...

I'm not particularly fond of the entitled monkeys that compose most of the "PC master race". I like steam and PC gaming but for christ's sake don't you think calling yourselves a master race is a little bit narcissistic.

List of thee Worst Fanbases I have come across:

Yu-Gi-Oh! - It's a game where many cards are just simply better then other cards. So many faggots play this game. Most players play with the sole idea of winning, but have no idea too unless they use what they deem to be the best cards in cheap ways. Many intuitive cards don't get much use because most players stick with the same cards in each deck, which they call 'staples.' And special summoning turns very easily abused.

League of Legends - It's a game where you are most successful working together. The players have bad attitudes. They always argue over who gets to play what role. Some times your teammates are your worst enemy, and you only lose because they threw the game. If you're unlucky, sometimes you get reported as a bad player and get sent to 'the losers bracket.' This term is similar to elo heck. (btw, I made up 'loser's bracket' just now.) After being reported, you only get searched with bad players. (Although, maybe it's part of the engine. Maybe these bad players are just younger players.)

Avid Book Readers: These people spend long hours staring at print. They are very buzzed off with a lack of adrenaline or excitement. Their intelligence is dwarfed by only knowing what they have read. They only learn from being told things. They don't learn on their own.

List of Good Fanbases:

Call Of Duty - I've played the latest ones, some on both systems(ps3/360). Usually it's just a bunch of guys having fun. Occasionally, you'll get the guy who's spamming his mic with cuss words. Or whispering into it about who knows what. But mostly, it's just guys having fun.

World of Warcraft - I didn't play during it's earlier phases. But whenever I play I only see nice people. Like, they may be nerds in real life, but they're just really mature, if not polite. A year or two ago I tried to play with some friends, and they're also pretty laid back. While playing WoW, it just feels very serene.

Whether or not something has a good fan base is related to the intelligence of it's fans, imo. Like, if something is intelligently designed, it will attract the right people.

Okay so I have three fandoms. I'm involved in each of them at least to the point where I follow pages, maybe post something once in a while. Which means that, yes, I am a pretty big fan of all of them.

Harry Potter: I love the series and I do like the fanbase for the most part, but... 'Harry Potter is the gateway fandom' 'No matter how many series I read, I always go back to Harry Potter' How fans keep finding the randomest things related to Harry Potter to post, creating something out of nothing, the character wars... ugh...
Some fans are so stubborn about their character they hate or love they won't even pay attention to any opposite opinion. Even if both sides have valid points... they don't seem to like compromise.
And then... on top of that... If anyone posts anything opposing the opinion that was posted, even if it wasn't negative or derogatory... it was polite, well worded, valid, etc... it's still hate. That's driving me nuts because "don't hate on opinions" okay. *posts opposite opinion in a decent way, doesn't attack the person who ahd that opinion or anything* "THAT"S HATE!" I like the books, I like the fandom for the most part, but... they're all going crazy.

Pokemon: Okay I admit, I'm still a fairly new fan, not very hardcore for now... There are fans out there who only like Gen 1, 'if you like anything else, you're not a real fan' some seem to claim. Or my favorite "if you didn't start with Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur, then you're not a true fan". Because apparently it's not allowed to become a fan later on as the generations move on. According to that, I'm not a true fan because I started with Tepig from gen 5.
Then there's the fans who just hate on how stupid some pokemon look now. 'oh come on, an ice cream cone? not original' Like the blobs named Muk and Grimer aren't any better... or what about Voltorb?
And then there's the show... People apparently think that some people don't like Iris because she's colored; when she just annoys the **** out of me. Misty did too for that matter, just not as much. Okay yes, the show has gone downhill... but what do the fans expect? The writers are acting like the fanbase is still the same age, and keeping it for little kids, even though there are fans who are now adults and still love it. That's normal; it was started for children, and tehy're keeping it for children... sure they could at least let Ash age or have him move on and put in a new main character, but that's not happening. And it bothers me that people expect the writers to change things about the show just because the original fans are older now.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Yes I do love hte show, and I am a big fan, I follow pages read fanfiction... Look at fan art. But does that mean I'm a clopper? Nope. So I would appreciate it if people would stop using that as an excuse to hate the fans. I have other excuses to hate the fanbase.
Some fans hate Twilight becoming an alicorn because apparently that's too much like a Mary Sue... as if she doesn't have her own weaknesses. Plus, Celestia used no magic to change Twilight, it just happened. Anyways, people can't accept what the writers chose to do, and I see that in other fandoms as well... but it almost seems to be like this is an outrage, something that should be forbidden.
Some fans are so purist that now that Lauren Faust isn't involved with the show they refuse to watch it, when she seems to be credited for less than what they think in the series anyways.
Anyways, the most annoying part about the fandom? Hating on OCs. Particularly alicorn OCs. Because apparently it is impossible to create an OC (common in other fandoms too, but seemingly rampant here) without it being a Mary Sue and having abilities it shouldn't. Particularly if it's an alicorn, heaven forbid. I've seen people tear down perfectly good OCs that dont' even have a backstory yet; or have a decent one... They throw abuse at the creator for it and I've seen a person attempt to leave a page she was admining because it got so bad over her OC that was actually one of the best alicorn OCs I've seen.
For a fandom that spouts 'love and tolerate' Bronies don't do much of it it seems. Yeah there's bad seeds in every fandom, but for a fandom where that's the motto, something is wrong when people can't even give OCs a chance or let people post things that aren't just canon ponies.

Now for people who are only posting a series and saying 'enough said' Um... no it isn't. See, I don't actively look at fandoms that aren't my own and I don't even play Call of Duty, so I don't know what's wrong with it... plus... How do we know you're not hating on it just because? I'd like to see peoples reasons for it and then form my own opinions rather than just mindlessly saying "okay I'll avoid that fandom because it's listed as a bad fandom"

So let me get this straight, just because you lack the ability to do something--in this case "Stare and print and get buzzed off with a lack of adrenaline and excitement" Everyone else who reads is suddenly inferior to you--? Oh and stupid and can't think for themselves because they only believe the things they read?

So, friend, let me ask you this. How do you learn about things--and after learning things--by whatever strange method it is you use-photosynthesis maybe? Do you not form on opinion on it is that you've learned?

So are readers--who gain their knowledge from books--not able to form their own opinions and learned decisions about what they read instead of "They only learn from being told things. They don't learn on their own."

Well, maybe if you could answer that question yourself, I wouldn't be right.

I'm ashamed to admit it but....

I'm afraid I don't have a warped sense of logic.

Anyway, I'm ending this here, so it doesn't become a problem for other users.

Homestuck - Even though I don't personally read it, Homestuck has a pretty bad fandom from what I've witnessed. Even though it's not uncommon, most of them are completely disrespectful of the creator, threating him when there aren't any updates or harassing him whenever something they don't like happens.

Shippers - Can I throw in people who Ship characters together? I feel like this should count because many shippers go crazy if you don't appreciate what they ship. For example: Naruto x Sasuke, Sasuke x Sakura, Ichigo x Rukia, America x England. I mean, I understand if you want two characters to be each other but to be THAT argumentative/serious about it, is ridiculous to me.

Final Fantasy VII - There are too many fans of FFVII who bash other games in the Final Fantasy franchise just because it's not like FFVII.

Justin Beiber. - I personally don't like him, don't care about him, I don't even know who he is, but his fans are insanely annoying. No matter how many videos I watch on Youtube, Justin Beiber is always a subject.

Twilight/Harry Potter - Enough said.

Free! - Don't get me wrong. I looooooooove this series. I thought it was really neat to see something other than football and basketball, so it was neat to see another sports anime. But I only consider Free! just that. I don't see it as a Yaoi series, and others do for some reason. This brings me back to shippers. (see above)

Hetalia - Love Hetalia, dislike shippers.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - There are too many arguments in this fandom, and people are too obsessive about it, even to the point where the creator dislikes his fans.

Some Fanbases that I don't consider bad/may be bad.

Attack on Titan - So far I haven't really witnessed anything bad going on in the fandom. I see a lot of jokes, but not really arguments. Then againm I may only see the tame side of the fandom,so who knows. Wait, unless it has to do with Sasha, but I haven't seen arguments about it, more like people defending her and Connie, stating that they are more than just comic relief (which they are).

Dangan Ronpa - I think the same thing goes for Dangan Ronpa, they just make a lot of jokes and such.

There's a few more that should be here, but I honestly can't remember at the moment. Feel free to prove me wrong.

I'm not sure if we have played the same games or not, or you have been extremely lucky with who you're playing with.
I've been playing CoD since CoD4 came out, and the ''community'' has been dying since MW2. Because of... 12 y/o kids, of course.
WoW: Have you played a lot? Like, have you tried to raid & do some PvP? I've had so many bad experiences with 1) some guys who can't understand a word of english, so we wipe gracefully (On a USA server, ya know), 2) trolls 3) ninjas 4) guys who think they can just jump in the fight & kill everyone in 2 shots. so on and so forth. WoW is only fun when you are playing with just your friends, and if you are not at a high level.
