The problem is that a Crunchyroll monopoly is better for the UK, unless an alternative focused on Europe as well, and managed to add some Funimation/Viz titles, I can't see a genuine challenger.

The other problem is that CR is, as far as I know, the only UK-available Anime streaming service that actually has TV-connected apps.

For DVDs and Blu-rays I have my PS3 and BD player. On my TV with my amp with my armchair.
For those shows that hit CR, Xbox, PS3 and Roku. TV, Amp, Armchair.
Video gaming. TV, Amp, Armchair.
Streaming (legal) non-Anime movies and TV. Service I use (LoveFilm) has PS3 and Xbox 360 apps. TV, Amp, Armchair.

Hell, I even have an XBMC box for.... media acquired elsewhere. TV.... you get the picture by now.

Web only, streaming sites? Stuff that! Especially when it is technologically possible to watch them via my TV.
(Or, for a more legal route, just ignore them in favour of media that is legally available on my TV)

On the one hand, I tend to favour options over monopoly. But when only one route suits my setup, it's a no-brainer as to who I'd rather get every. damn. show.

We're not trying to be funny. We're bloody annoyed.

And as for the line I bolded, I know the point you're trying to make but oit means precisely noting if the shows I want to watch aren't here. That's like saying that a certain shop has more varieties of pizza than anywhere in Europe, but they don't bring over the toppings I actually like.

The only way we'll stop complaining is if every show comes out here. Simple. maybe not realistic, true. But otherwise there's always going to be someone's "must watch" show not available.

Could someone please explain the logic of this to me? Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the UK getting another show or anything, but why do they bother giving us Inifinite Stratos season 2 when we don't even have season 1? I mean logically it doesn't make much sense why they would give us a season 2 and not say Samurai Flemenco, or Kill la Kill.
Granted if Crunchyroll does get the rights to season one of IS for the UK then that complaint will go away and I can say "yay we have a new show".

edit: I just learned no country has IS, I always just assumed that it was NA only. My Mistake

A slight correction: it's not only UK, but Scandinavia as well. At the moment, less than half of the announced new simulcasts are available over here, which is quite a drop from the summer.

I'm quite surprised that crunchy got Infinite Stratos. It being outside of my region was expected but really good job getting that one. Now please also work hard on widening regions for already announced shows.

I'm still hoping that at least the 3rd one today will be in my region.

Whining? Requesting our money's worth as paying customers is whining? So what if we receive more shows than other regions? Does that make up for the fact that we still aren't getting what we pay for completely? It doesn't matter how many shows we get. If we aren't getting what we want to watch what's the point of visiting this website at all? I understand the licensing and regional issues which I why I don't blame Crunchyroll but don't sit there and tell us we can't complain because we have it better than others! We're all paying customers!

Never seen the first season of IS so II hope CR gets it as a catalog title

In fun news I just noticed we got some new mystery boxes. So 6 titles still to be announced

Pretty sure one of those will be PhiBrain S3 but can't wait to see what the rest will be

Historical precedent (e.g. Dog Days) suggests that this means in a few months time (possibly early next year) CR will upload the first season. Which will most likely include us so long as no distributor has got the license to season 1 without telling us about it yet.

We know if it was Crunchyroll's decision, they'd give free streaming rights to UK ... because TV Tokyo, which has an ownership share in Crunchyroll, gives UK rights (plus Ireland, Scandinavia, Dutch, Spain, Portugal and Turkey, in Europe, and premium members Europe-wide).

It sucks that somebody's change in strategy is blocking a lot of UK streaming, and the result is likely to be slower growth in memberships in the UK at the same time as growth in memberships in Latin America are likely to accelerate.

What happened to Latin America?

I'm guessing Sentai is going to be the last hold-out on sublicenses including Latin America.

And so am I! But i can't just start whining myself if there are already a lot of UK guys in the game. What's the point is not that you have better then OTHERS. I don't care about them. What's important is that you have better then ME, and complain so much that i don't feel like complaining at all. And I planned to whine and complain a lot this season... now all mine preparations are wasted

As for me i will be watching Golden Time or Infinite Stratos anyway even if it's RR for me. Of course i would prefer to do it in more legal way but since I will watch it, and I can bet it will be CR release i don't think that paying is waste. Bypassing region restriction for something you paid is (for me) morally right or at least more correct then just downloading for free.

But, it will be funny if the cause is AoD resurrection. The question will be: it's resurrection, zombification or just simply death throes.

Crunchyroll's main base is the US (and Canada) All of us know that Crunchyroll UK only exists because we speak the same language as their core market, but nonetheless Crunchyroll UK exists, and it's the only European country where the Crunchyroll brand exists as its own entity. Similarly with Crunchyroll Latin America and Spanish.

So whilst Crunchyroll makes a bid everywhere for everything, how much they are prepared to pay is based on how many people in that country fluently speak the languages they are prepared to translate from the original Japanese. So the many paying subscribers in the UK are annoyed about only getting half the shows for their money.

So then you're basically doing what you're ridiculing UK customers of doing?

Anyway, if you're content with not being able to watch what you want legally via your paid subscription then by all means remain apathetic. The rest of us will keep "whining" so long as we pay our monthly fees. Saying we shouldn't complain because we have it better than some is just absurd for a subscribed member. There aren't any partial deals here, we're all paying the same.

And again, I understand licensing and regional issues. That doesn't make it any less frustrating, and people slapping your wrist for complaining about your rights brings it up to the level of infuriating.

Looking forward to Infinite Stratos. Might try an episode of the other show, but it doesn't sound promising.
