Every new title announcement is bittersweet. On the one hand I'm happy to have most of these titles available, but it feels like the door is closing on the possibility of getting Hajime no Ippo

Seriously it might be worth me cancelling my subscription for this month, there's basically nothing to watch here in the UK. This is getting ridiculous, can we at least pay less or something?

Paying less would very likely result in the a downward spiral.

I have my doubts that cutting the price from 5 pounds to 2.50 would double the number of subscribers, since neither amount is a lot of money. If it failed to do so, CR would then have half the revenue to support new licenses for the UK. That would mean fewer titles the next time around, which would mean fewer subscribers again.

Even assuming it did double the number of subscribers, CR's income for the region would be the same, while their streaming costs increased.

About the only way it might work is if cutting the price more than doubled the number of subscribers, but I just don't believe people are that price sensitive.

Perhaps if someone could point out an example of this tactic being successful for another media company, CR might consider it. Netflix, for example, doesn't charge UK subscribers 30% of what people in the U.S. are charged, despite that being the difference in the number of titles they offer for each country.

Anime on Demand apparently couldn't garner enough traffic in the UK even offering up titles in HD for free for two seasons (or was it 3?) which further casts doubt on cutting the subscription price bringing in enough additional subscribers to make up the difference.

Cutting the price for UK subscribers would definitely make things worse for us.

The reason Anime on Demand couldn't get enough traffic was due to their terrible service. During the winter season we were 6 weeks behind with Maoyu, Problem Children and Student Council's Discretion and they didn't even bother to catch up. They also just couldn't stick to a schedule which definitely drove potential customers away.

Again, the EU gets shafted with that licensing stuff...

I kinda want my money's worth, but so far I can't say I've had just that...

CR might as well just IP block the EU and stick with NA only.. At this rate i'm getting more ouf of free streaming sites than i'm getting from a site I pay hard cash to in order to watch streams.

Not happy? Hell no i'm not happy about CR taking my money. If you go to a damned restaurant and order a full plate but only get half, but still have to pay full price, is that fair? No, it's not.

EDIT: Canceled my recurring payments. I'll just use those free streaming sites instead. At least I don't have to worry about not being able to enjoy new shows due to licensing issues.

What would be worse, a proxy or raws or fansubs? Not sure which is the less or more illegal. I usually just skip the Viz shows.

With a proxy, Viz still gets their share of the ad revenue from Hulu, and it counts as a view toward the MG they paid the publisher.

$5/month for a proxy to watch (quasi-legally) one show on Hulu in 360p with ads is not terribly appealing so I will likely just skip it as usual. If I had any desire to watch other shows on Hulu it would make more sense. But thanks for the suggestion.

Same here in Norway. We have to pay the same price as those with access to ALL the shows on CR. It's ridiculous.

I've been a loyal CR premium member for a long time now and every time a new and popular show gets released on CR, it takes ages for it to be available in my region. Some shows never become available at all.

Standard Hulu offers up to 480p, but the ads are inevitable (paying for Hulu Plus doesn't even reduce their number).

CR is ACTUALLY trying to get it available for all but maybe its the publisher's fault...

Paying for a service and still getting ads is maddening! I hate it when Funimation has the free/ads version up before the pay/ad-free/HD version. Drives me nuts! I've complained about it and they have made it a lot better but it still happens. Usually if I wait 10-15 minutes the Elite version is up but some days, especially for stuff that drops after normal business hours, it may be 12 hours or more before the Elite version is available in which case I need to choose whether to watch it low-res with ads early or wait impatiently for it to come up. I hope they improve this part of their service as well with their revamp but we shall see since I think that part of their service is outsourced and sometimes it is simply that the 720p version takes longer to upload or something like that. If only they could all be as reliable as Crunchyroll or if they would all just give Crunchyroll access to their catalog that would be the best of course I can dream, can't I? LOL

Strangely or perhaps not, sometimes the free version cannot be viewed by free members but all I can see is the free version even with my Elite account. Then free users are also upset...

----

With Crunchyroll launching operations in France perhaps there is more hope for those in Europe. I hope so!

I don't know whats with all of you I live in Germany so I get maybe 1/3rd of the show at best, but still 5€ seem pretty cheap for high quality anime simulcasts and all the complete series, also if your really desperate for watching a show just use a VPN server and you'll get all the USA shows, still better than watching it at some illegal streaming site
