Why all the hate on fanservice? If Baywatch was on today would people say, "I wanted to see a show about lifeguards but Pamela Anderson's boobs just turn me off."??? I don't get it. Women, sure, but guys?? When did guys turn into harem protags who can't stand the sight of pantsu???

For me, it's not that I can't stand the sight, but when that's the only thing the show has going for it (and I feel that is the case here), why would I waste my time here?
I disagree that there is nothing else to this show. It it fun and funny, good anmation.

If you're saying why watch this? Why not watch hentai or pr0n if all you want is fanservice? Then I say there is a difference between a fanservice comedy and full H or P.

Just saw the first episode ....well...not all the way

I lost interest about halfway.

Nothing about it is funny to me and alot of in your face fanservice that feels very out of place .I mean I tolerated High School of the dead' fanservice but this one was just not right...Nothing about the characters are interesting. Animation maybe good

The genre is indeed similar to Hataraku Maou Sama which I loved but this one is boring to me. Its humor is nothing in comparison to Hataraku.

This one is just trying so damm hard to be humorous, cute and sexy.

Was this based on a manga or something ?

No matter ...Didnt work for me.

I agree with the sentiment that Hataraku had more going for it.

And this show is based on the light novels.

I am not afraid to admit that I will keep watching a show if I am aware of it pissing off a large number of people. (See: Diabolik Lovers.) This show has a lot more fan service than I was expecting, but, hey, I'm one of those who thinks that's not a bad thing.

I loved the line from Log Horizon today.
I tend to agree and sometimes wonder if those that complain the most enjoy it the most? Maybe not but I freely admit that I love ecchi comedy anime with lots of fanservice. Why not?

I am enjoying Diabolik Lovers too, and Monogatari.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my issue with the fanservice is that it is definitely not in service of the plot, or in service of anything outside of titillation. In Monogatari, Haganai...heck, even in shows like Freezing or Highschool DxD, the nudity and fanservice at least seems connected. At least based on the first episode, most of the bouncing boobs and panty shots had virtually nothing to do with the show itself; it was like they were supposed to be visual gags, but they forgot the punchline (outside of the bathing scene at the end; that actually was funny).

I'm not saying its enough to keep me from watching the show, but...well, the series doesn't seem to have too much else going on thus far. The characters aren't bad, but if there isn't really some sort of overarching narrative, I don't think the characters alone can carry it. I'll give it another couple episodes to see if it improves.

Was a nice first episode - not great, but nice.
I expected a bit more hazardous personality for Fino.. but well, it seems to go more for humor than "normal peoples reactions"

Lets see for the next two episodes. The first episode of Hataraku also had its weird moments, admitted that the vibe of Hataraku was better balanced.

Boobs. Boobs are good. Will keep watching for the boobs. Boobs.

Every season needs its unnecessary fanservice show.

P.S. This is an ecchi. Maou-Sama wasn't. An ecchi tag should have been a big clue to the fact it was going to have fanservice in it lol.

Comedy only works if the viewer finds it humorous, and none of it worked for me, at least not enough to keep me watching past the first episode.

So far, the show reminds me of Working in a fantasy setting, but without the eccentric that make that show work.

When you're watching from the apps, you don't get those cues.

I happily will watch something like Sekirei or High School DxD. Even though I'm not really very into it, fan service generally doesn't bother me all that much (hell DxD is practically a porn after all).

This shows fan service though is gratuitous, unnecessary, and badly portrayed. It doesn't drive the plot forward at all, it's just there for the sake of being there. I don't think that to say that the fan service in a show sucks is being prudish, I think it's just saying that the fan service sucks.

As people keep saying over and over, 'the ecchi is a part of the show,' which I think would make it subject to review as much as any other aspect.

I find all the fanservice distracting in anime. It takes away from the immersion in the world for me because all the boobs make me horny and I would honestly rather just watch porn. Anime, for me, should be about story. This seems to have a halfway decent story so I'll have to see if it holds my interest.

It is the weakest showing so far (for me) of Fall 2013.

These are very good points. I think it is fine to like a show *because* it is ecchi, but it is also fine to like a show *in spite* of it being ecchi. Or the converse. Or, for that matter, it is alright to like a show, and have it also be ecchi. I liked Sekirei quite a bit. I also liked Freezing. I liked the plots and the fighting...and the boobs were maybe a plus in the shows' favor. For me, anyway.

On the other hand, take something like Manyuu Hikenchou. Or Seiken no Qwaser. Those shows' entire existence is predicated on fan service. If you accept it, and are on board with a show whose sole reason for existence is "boobs", they can be entertaining shows. But if someone merely tolerated fan service (but didn't like it), there is almost no reason to watch them. Criticizing them for being ecchi would be roughly akin to criticizing Call of Duty for promoting the use of guns; it's true, but, honestly, the comment adds no value to the discussion.

When you're talking about a series like this, though, where fan service is an element of the series, but not its only element, I think its perfectly reasonable to criticize that element for being badly done. I thought the fish out of water/workplace comedy elements of the show were solid, but when the ecchi jokes are mostly along the lines of "hey, *she's* got big boobies, doesn't she?" and that's the punchline, the show loses some points. That said, the one really good ecchi joke in the show at the end ("oh hey, I've decided to live here, and I'm taking a bath...in the sink...using dishwashing liquid...but don't worry, my breasts are covered with soap, so I'm not indecent" "demons apparently have a different view of decency") was at the very end, so maybe we'll get more jokes like that in the future, and less "gee, boobs sure do...jiggle, don't they?" jokes, the show could work. That's why I am willing to keep going for a couple more episodes; it seems to have potential.

(and now I realize I have effectively spent a fair bit more time discussing women's breasts in a public forum than I had planned...but there you go)

Because both are terrible (yes, yes, "in my opinion")?
