It already did for me once. I used this site before it became an "official" kind of site. They used to have various MVs on here, shows etc and it was so much fun. After all of it suddenly got removed, I stopped going on here.

Back though. I don't know what make them lose it's popularity. Perhaps the lack of anime available to some regions, causing people not to become a paid member. Not that they can really control the regions themselves though.

Yeah I think the lack of some regions too, I mean especially things like Naruto not being available in UK. Its things like that why I aren't a paid member.

I usually use Crunchyroll as a hub to discuss anime with others.

Hmm, even though I'm not a member, I really shouldn't be complaining--but the ads. It's just annoying so I use other anime sites--if Crunchyroll never ad ads--I'd watch on here more often.

But again--I'm not a member--so I can't complain.

Back to the question--I do not think Crunchyroll will lose popularity as it provides a reliable enough service to a niche audience--the way Nisa operates--that's how they make money.

Also, businesses like aforementioned Nisa and etc. use the site to advertise, so it's really all well set up. I honestly don't think it will ever lose popularity.

1) The lack of anime available. It's kind of frustrating when they don't have series I like, and I have to write down what episode I was going to watch next.

2) They don't have some of the anime available on the mobile apps. So I have to use the computer to watch it when I get home.

3) The ads. They get annoying, and other sites don't have as many advertisements. Usually one before the video starts.

The biggest risk is that Crunchyroll starts to lose its ability to license anime. I think the biggest threat to this is that the distributors start to do their own streaming. For example, any anime licensed by Funimation is unlikely to be simulcast or even to have older shows here. Daisuke.net, which is partly funded by Aniplex--which has seen a lot of their animes streamed by CR--is another. We've recently seen this realized when the streaming of Monogatari season 2 episodes is delayed by about a month from broadcast/Daisuke streaming.

I like the fact that for one relatively inexpensive subscription, I can get access to about 20+ simulcast shows. If this number drops significantly due to the shows going off to their own paid portal, then it becomes more iffy that the shows I want to watch are hosted here, and it raises the amount of money I have to spend if these shows distribute themselves across 3+ services.

Have you checked your Mature Content Filter setting? That's usually the reason some series' aren't watchable on mobile & console platforms.

if:

1. bad management or lack of promotions

2. constant video errors

3. there's another website that's better than CR and cheaper... hehe. Competition is good for the consumers but bad for the businessowners haha.

edit: :-/ i type like a little kid, there's something wrong with my brain
