So, I asked this question last season so I figured I ask it again this season: What was the anime that surprised you the most this season and the one that disappointed you the most this season?

For me, my biggest surprise is definitely Sunday Without God. I had very low expectations for it be honest and it completely blow those expectation out of the water. The animation is great and the story is really well done. It has its comedy moments as well as it's emotional moments. One of my favs this season and definitely this year so far.

Also, have to mention Dog and Scissors. The thought of a sadist torturing a dog who use to be a guy was not my idea of a fun show to watch but after reading some comments on it, I decided to give it a try and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Was not expecting the mystery aspects at all.

For biggest disappointment, it's Watamote. Loved the first episode but the second one was... just hard to watch. And after hearing about how the episode where her cousin came over, I knew I made the right decision about dropping the show. I just can't tolerate that type of comedy.

Surprise for me would be Sunday Without God, definitely. I just thought it would be pretentious garbage. But it's more like a slightly pretentious, but still amazing show. By far the best ratio of measured-enjoyment to expected-enjoyment.

My biggest disappointment is probably Dog & Scissors, mainly because I'm a bit of a Gonzo fanboy. I generally have faith in Gonzo to make something interesting and unique, but I just thought the show was so repetitive in nature after my initial surprise at the premise. And I didn't like how the main character was sort of relegated to an eternal straight-man role, made all the more disappointing since he can't vocally interject anything at anyone other than the main girl... clearly it just wasn't my thing lol

The anime that surprised most this season for me would have to be Love Lab. I thought this would be something stupid. I love being pleasantly surprised and this turned out to be my second favorite this season behind Servant x Service.
I was also surprised by Stella Academy. Keeping the feeling of "cute" while using guns was quite a feat.
My biggest disappointments? If you count continuations from previous seasons, that would be Attack on Titan. I voiced my thoughts on this enough, so anyone curious enough (I'm sure there will be a boat load) can look around. If it doesn't count previous season continuations, I would have to agree with EJHicks and say Watamote. The only thing creepier than the main character is the anime Another. The only thing I liked about Watamote was the opening song.

Biggest Surprise Hit: KINMOZA!
I was not expecting a successor to the greatness that was Yuyushiki but wow, KINMOZA! accomplished it and sealed the deal with its last episode as a truly great anime

Biggest Disappointment: Stella C3
The show seriously should have focused on the fantasy powers of Yura, I was not a fan of the serious moments in this show, it just felt so out of place and the characters are just unlikable. Rin was more likable than all of the main cast combined.

Yeah that's exactly how I felt about it. It's second place in my disappointment list. I'm a Gainax fanboy as well as a Gonzo fanboy... maybe being a fanboy is bad? Maybe it only leads to disappointment? Nah, couldn't be lol

biggest surprise: Sunday Without God
the most atypical zombie story ever. I always do my best to go into shows blind, so I don't know exactly what to expect, but this show delivered on pretty much every level. beautiful animation, beautiful soundtrack, likable characters, interesting story. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

honorable mention goes to Fate/Kaleid Liner PRISMA ILLYA

biggest disappointment: Dog and Scissors and Stella C3-bu
Dog and Scissors had an... interesting start and was decently funny, but quickly degenerated into boredom and overly absurd humor that I just couldn't find funny at all.
C3-bu, I really should have stuck with my initial assessment of. at first I thought it was just going to be k-on with guns. but then they decided to have a moment of brilliance which subsequently burnt out, and the show became.. k-on with guns. that small spark of something interesting is what really disappointed me about this anime. it could have been so much more than what it was, but it just decided to play the safe route and came out amazingly shitty because of it.

honorable mention goes to Attack on Titan

AoT, was NOT expecting to see an anime be such a HUGE hit in such a short amount of time, and be really good. A lot of times I don't care for what's popular but I really, really love AoT.

Biggest surprise for me was... Fate/Kaleid Liner. For a magical girl show, it was able to have some serious fight scenes that were pretty enjoyable to watch.

Biggest Disappointment so far has been Watamote for me. I guess I had some pretty high hopes for it, but I guess the comedy wasn't really for me in the end.

Biggest surprise: Eccentric Family
Great show overall. I reviewed this series:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/the-eccentric-family/reviews

Overall, a decent cast, with entertaining dialogues, drama, and humor. This is a show that I looked forward to every single weekend. PA Works strikes gold this time and I hope they do so with Nagi this Fall.

Biggest Disappointment: Brothers Conflict. I literally dropped this show about half way into the second episode as I knew the large amount of characters in this show wouldn't work at all. The main girl doesn't seem to have a personality either making the plot that much worse.

Dog & Scissors went from having a goal to letting the goal die. It had good comedy but I was expecting the dog to go back to his original body. The show had some plot holes, all over the place, short, and lacking in some areas. It could have done SO MUCH better and went on longer too.

Biggest Surprise: Shingeki no Kyojin...........................................................................................................I was somewhat expecting Greek Mythology. I still love the series though.

Biggest Disappointment: The Severing Crime Edge could have done much better in my opinion and have longer episodes.

My biggest surprise was actually Futari Wa Milky Holmes. I realize I'm probably the only person in the world who liked this anime, but what can I say, it spoke to me. I was expecting some watered-down spinoff of Tantei Opera Milky Holmes (which I found hilarious), but it turned out to be a sort of coming-of-age tale focusing on how the two main characters support each other as they start along the path to following their dream. It also fleshes out the Milky Holmes universe quite a bit and even gives significance to the two MCs' families. Definitely better than I expected.

Biggest Disappointment - If anything, Blood Lad. I was hoping for an interesting action show with a somewhat zany cast, but it felt like more of a typical shonen anime that had a few really interesting aspects, but was just too all over the place for me to really enjoy it overall.
