I'll admit, I got some SAO vibes. But then again I got the .hack// vibes when watching SAO for the first time. I thought it was a pretty decent first episode. Let's see where goes from here.

I appreciate what you had to say, but you probably should've spoilered that.

All in all, I liked this first episode a lot more than I expected. The relatively light nature of the episode was refreshing, and it definitely seems like, at the very least, the author of the novels must know MMOs pretty well, particularly about guild dynamics. That really surprised me, since, well...I don't want to bring up SAO, but so much of that show bore no resemblance to how MMOs actually work. Just the part at the end, when the guild realizes that one of their people is in hostile territory and can't easily get out, went a long way.

I do not see any one actually trolling this show saying SAO IS BETTER BLARGH!

So I don't know why it keeps being brought up that SAO fans are trolling the show, most people in this thread are just saying "it's similar to SAO/.hack"

But that's neither here nor there. Comparisons will happen, that's unavoidable.

YEAH!!!! SUCK IT SAO! Lmao jk
Well that was a pretty good episode, i like that it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously and provides cuteness and humor.
Will definitely continue watching.

because SAO haters still feel the need to get insults in, even if the anime has been over for a year now, and the hype fanboys have moved on.

QFT.

Reading the posts, it's all: "Good first episode." "Similar vibes to SAO." and even "Log Horizon>SAO."

Doesn't seem to be hateful to me.

Well the first thing I noticed was the character design.. very similar to SAO and of course the style of the plot is very similar.MMORPG gamers showing up in the game Elder Tales and getting stuck.

With this one we dont know what happened to the players before they showed up in this world.

I actually find this one interesting so far, lets see how the adaptation goes.

Looks like this is based on a Japanese novel series of 6 volumes by Mamare Touno. It was initially posted on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2010 and is also being adapted into a manga.

Takuma Terashima is Shiroe the strategist . I like his delivery of his lines so far... ;)

but the Log Horizon guild is becoming interesting, a pervie guardian, a cute kickass assassin, the megane wearing magician or startegist

I really enjoyed this episode. One thing I noticed is that Log Horizon focuses more on the MMO aspect then SAO did.

This show is much closer to the style of the .hack universe. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and (as previously stated) seems to be dedicated to the interaction of characters, and groups of characters in a political format.

It felt a little too self-aware at first, but maybe that was necessary to hook non-MMO gamers.

At any rate, I expect to have a lot of fun watching this.

Not really a complaint but from an MMO player's point of view I kind of find it silly how a bunch of lvl90 characters are having trouble against mobs that are more than 60 levels lower than them. Unaccustomed to new controls? lol if I logged out my capped char on a nub spot with aggro monsters and login back and for some reason my hotkey setup were all reset I can prolly setup my hotkeys while tanking nub mobs.

I mean sure this isn't the MMO I'm playing but c'mon I've played a lot of different MMOs and I cannot name any MMO where people will have problems against mobs that are waaaaaay low level. Kinda makes me think the author has never played an MMO before.
