And damn it, whats with the 'ou' everywhere? Shojo and Shoujo. Shounen and Shonen. Shirou and Shiro.

There are different methods for approaching the long o in translation. Rendering it as ou is most common on the Internet, from what I have seen, but it is not unusual to see it as oh. Putting a bar over the o is increasingly correct, and most linguistically simple (IMO), but that requires Unicode for Internet rendering, and not every PC (or browser) can quite do that, so ... you get ou and oh. I frequently do it as ô, which does not rely on Unicode, but that is not necessarily correct.

Actually it is because of Japanese spelling. For example, Shounen is しょうねん , unlike english each japanese letter is strictly phonetic, taking transliterating those into alphabet, you get し-Shi よ-Yo う-U ね-Ne ん-N しandよ combine together to form しょ-Sho.
So literally しょうねん is Shounen, you say it quick enough and the U becomes almost inaudible. Similar to why the almost meme-like word Desu often simply sounds like des.

It is kind of like how in the traditional American English words like "Often" are pronounced as "Offen" or Latter is "Ladder". I forget what the correct term for this phenomenon is.

A great continuation from the first ep. Personally, I could care less about the mmo mechanics being spelled out ad nauseum. Fortunately, they haven't gone overboard on that. It's been a nice balance so far. I like that this is different than .hack and SAO in that there is no coma/death issue for characters to deal with. It gives this store a different angle than the other shows.

And Akatsuki continues to be adorable. :)

Plus, this along with Kill La Kill have the best musical scores of any show this season. I love the music so far, and really want to hear more.

One more thing about Episode 2!

I hope to see more moments like this in the series:

It's a relatively subtle theme, here, but I hope to see it develop as the anime goes on:

A true leader supports his party by making the best decisions.
A good party supports their leader by giving him the courage to make them.

I truly am looking forward to seeing how this series plays out!

OH agreed! I was smiling with that because they didn't even need to say anything. Most anime dumbs it down to actually SAY what it was that they were thinking (and wasting lines/time). I'm hooked

As I mentioned earlier, there's a lot of things that the anime is "toning down".
The most obvious is the depiction of the kills.

Your question is another one. They're in a hurry, because she is in physical danger.
The city guards consider an "attack" as "doing significant damage to an Adventurer or an Earthling".
However, it was reiterated that as real people, we know there are crimes committed far beyond the realm of that definition, especially when a young girl is involved. Killing isn't the worst thing to do against a player in this world.

That's just a bit too risque for evening NHK TV I suppose.

...My goodness. That definitely explains why a lot of people are having trouble reading the suspense, since they can't go into detail on crimes like that in the anime. There was so much emphasis on PKs in the last ep, it seems everyone (including myself) thought that's the only crime people are committing.

Personally, I initially thought it was more to deal with saving the girl from being isolated from her guild; I had no idea it would be that serious...

I guess this ties in with why people are so anxious to form / join large guilds and create their own kingdoms, so that they can establish law and order and eventually crack down on all the criminal players.

Well I'm in the minority and have found everything to be boring, on the verge of dropping. There really hasn't been any real hook, no explanation. They are stuck in a game and thats it. Feels like they are butchering the adaptation and trying to G it up too much (not even PG). How do y'all LN readers feel about the adaptation? Are the completely butchering the show?

Not really. Majority of the monologues of the protagonist is gone, but that's to be expected.
The novel is rather unnecessarily wordy, and animating it as it would not work in a visual medium.

If you want explanation, look elsewhere.
Though to be honest, from that approach, you'd find masterpieces like Twelve Kingdom boring too.

Story doesn't really pick up until episode 5~6, from there it should be a great ride all the way.

Censorship is heavy yes, but it'll mean significance only from episode 4 and on.
It's a recurring theme later on, so completely omitting it would be a shame.

That's what the problem is to me, waiting beyond 3 episodes to get to the premise of the show is a bit much. I can handle slow starts or slow developments but you have to give me some type of intrigue, at the moment LH has none. Feels like I'm watching any random anime I just happen to come across on TV.

It looks to me like the primary issue of the show thus far is how players will choose to act in a game if they are let loose in the setting – a Lord of the Flies scenario, but set in virtuality. Granted, a number of actions can be justified by the "it's just a game" excuse, but —

Agreed, this week's episode was slow but with some background revealed and setup for what looks like it could be a good episode next week.

And I love the ED! Not as crazy about the OP as many seem to be but it is OK.

The END is good. She has a nice voice. :)

Just watched the first ep cause I been meaning too, and I really like it. I hope they dont go the SAO route and have the characters die outside of the game, cause that would just be depressing (again).

Nyanta seems to be a cook as I guessed. Look like more actions next week.
I don't know if they kill NPCs, they will be revived or not.
