Episode 1

Wow, that was actually a decent episode. The OP song was alright but I liked the action and the OST to go along with it. I'm curious about this Akatsuki girl though as in her past/origins so hopefully that will be explored later on.

So yeah, there's some SAO vibes in this where people can't seem to log out and is now stuck in this virtual world.

I'm liking some of the main characters so far and quite curious to see what that cat-like being is going to do later on in this series as well. Freaking cute:

I enjoyed that! Wasn't sure I would but it seems interesting, funny but also intriguing.

SAO comparisons are inevitable but this could even turn out to be better.

I'm always a fan of the "Stuck in MMO" shows

it's just one of those fun hypothetical; what would I do if I was stuck as my main character from GameXYZ

The Gender swap and whole thing with the Appearance change potion was fun. There is more comedy potential in people being actually stuck with their characters than in SOA where everyone turned into their real self.

Be really weird though, If I found myself stuck being my Elf Priestess.

DAT OP DOE!

I liked it. The animation was standard, not spectacular but it was good. The plot... well it's basically SAO but I can't really say it's 100% SAO because we don't know WHY they are in the world and how they can actually get out. I think what really got me was all the characters. They were just really funny XD. They didn't really break the mode in anyway but they worked for me. I also really liked the fact that they weren't used to feeling things and that-

Pretty weak first episode, but provided it goes in the opposite direction to SoA (ie amazing opening into shit) it'll be fine

I'm gonna lay this out in most Log Horizon threads so that SAO fans don't have a chance to troll the show.

1) They're not trapped in a game The real world turned into a game - so its not even close to SAO, but more like FFTA (but without Marche)

2) Its not grimderp or edgy. You die in the game, you resurrect at a town. TPKs are considered comedic here.

3) The MC is not a gary stu - he even sticks to support role and CCs and not "hurr I bash it with my unqiue dual-wielding cuz i'm chosen one"

4) The development focus is on MC's party members with MC as the observer or the catalyst, unlike SAO where every character is an NPC revolving around the MC

5) Its not harem - OTPs everywhere. Even Tank bro gets a waifu.

6) The author focuses the plot about MMO politics, management and economies. Think MMY, Horizon and S&W This is loads better than generic "escaping back the the real world".
That's a good thing: plebs from leddit and /v/ wouldn't be able to understand shit

7) Foreword: The anime is not that AOTY. Much of it is wordswordswords interspersed with combat.

I'd like to see this be a parody of SAO and of MMOs. I spotted a few sly jokes about them (food, Guilds) in this episode, so I'm really curious/hopeful about where they take this.

Really a very good first episode. Yes, the people freaking out is like SAO. Yes, Shiro appears to have a problem with guilds just like Kirito. Yes, they don't know if they can die or not. Other than that, Log Horizon is its own thing.

I quite enjoyed the episode's humor, as well as the overall set up. Glad they let us live through the apocalypse instead of just using exposition, which is what I thought they were going to do.

I'm very interested in Shiro's backstory & what happened with the Debauchery Tea Party.

I hope we get to see some interaction betweens servers, like between Japan and NA. That would be a fascinating angle to explore, as it never really happens in real-life MMO's.

Maybe he would have been more successful if his spell didn't have such a lame name..."Electrical Fuzz?" LOL

Pretty solid first episode. Really like the way they have set-up this world with the characters, battles, classes, and the enemies.
