So AnimeLimted have recently announced their partnership with Wakanim, a French anime service that focuses on not only streaming currently airing anime, but renting and selling the episodes completely DRM free before they are released on DVD. Their first title to be released through this new service is Kill La Kill.

Interesting, so from what I understand you subscribe (for seemingly free) then have the option to rent (download for 4 days) episodes or buy (download forever). But what about just watching streaming? Is it a CR style system of simply sub for X moneys per month to watch.

That said I like having tyhe option to digitally pay for and download an anime. Heres hoping they could pickup films on a similar system (eva 4.0 Im looking at you)

As far as I can tell, the episode will be free for a month from the moment it is released on the site, to stream. And once that period is over you can either purchase a full copy of the episode or rent for 4 days. They are going to be releasing alot more information over the next few days so be on the look out. I'm hoping that eventually they can pick up series that will probably never make it, physically on UK shelves. Like Idol anime for instance.

Well if i am able to watch an anime legitimately then I am in. If they say what their premium is (to get rid of adverts would be good) then I might consider joining them. The only thing is that AoD stopped suddenly and Andrew Partridge was part of that as well..... at least I think so. Hopefully it works better this time for them.

This time round he has the foundations for the site already built, with the service running in France for 4 years now. So I'm hoping that it will, in the long run, manage to stay afloat. *Fingers Crossed*

After all of the frustration I have been seeing in comments this week from UK fans about all the shows they are not getting from CR, this is a piece of good news.

Gotta check the prices, but if they are reasonable, my only thoughts are "FUCK." and "YEAH."

EDIT:

Download to buy will cost £1.25

This could be pretty much the reason why were not getting shows on Crunchyroll. Having another simulcast site competing for shows is going to be a pain.

Why we're not getting kill la kill on CR maybe, but there are so many anime which are simply nowhere at all in europe on CR (coppelion, magi etc) which we now have a better chance of getting

Possibly, you may be right. I hope so. We'll see how it goes.

At the moment I spend £4.99 a month on Crunchyroll, and I get unlimited access to the back catalogue (where Crunchyroll has the regional rights) I'd be the first to admit this is a very good deal.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/news/2013-10-04/new-u.k-anime-online-broadcaster-announced

So based on my understanding...... (correct me if I'm wrong)
Episodes will only be available for free 30 days after broadcast. With up to a minute of advertising.
You can download an episode for free, but get 4 days to watch it.

Alternatively you can pay £0.69 per episode for HD, ad-free streaming, but this only entitles you to view the episode for 30 days.
Or you can permanently download the entire series for £1.25 per episode. (£15 for 12 episode series)

So with Kill la Kill being on Wakanim vs Crunchyroll, so far Crunchyroll is looking far superior.
