It's important. It sets the mood.

The single thing I love most in gaming is when the final boss battle begins and this fucking epic music start playing in the background, feels hype as shit. Shame less games do this these days.

I think Fallout (1-3) had great soundstracks that made this great mood and I absolutely adore the music used in the older FF games.

It matters a lot to me, I just luv3 when there is epic music.. it's makes the game even more epic and it adds to the atmosphere
FF, (older) Tomb Raiders, Silent Hill 1-3, Devil May Cry... and there's a lot others that have epic and beautiful music, these are just some of my favs.
Newer games don't really have that much good music to me tbh

Enough to know that in my mind no soundtrack has ever even gotten close to GTA San Andreas's Music.

To me it's a crucial part of a the experience and forms my strongest memory link to games. Growing up in the 80s and early 90s, video game music was usually marked by strong, monophonic melodies because of the limited amount of simultaneous sounds that could be used. F-Zero, Mega Man, Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda, Faxanadu, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, and Final Fantasy all had soundtracks that I can still hum right now.

Having limited music or none at all can work for some games, particularly ones that deal with isolation or anxiety. Having really generic crap doesn't work for any game. Modern titles too often resort to a heard-it-a-thousand-times hardish rock distorted guitar power chord thing during action scenes that is neither heavy nor exciting.

For me it all depends on the game. If it's a game like GTA where you can have your own car, drive around and do whatever you want then I would much rather have my own music. Same goes for open-world games like Skyrim. For games like Halo, however, it's extremely important that the soundtrack fits with the theme of the game otherwise it's not going to be as enjoyable.

Music means a lot. But it can be funny to. Try to play Street Fighter or any fighting or hack-and-slash game with smooth jazz or classical music. It's whole new level of experience

Are you kidding me? Music is right up there with gameplay and story, if not a smidgen less important.

A game's got no soul if it doesn't have music, and it's drudgeonous if it's got annoying and/or boring music.

Bottom line is, music is very important to a game's structure.

Music's pretty important to me because it sets the mood and makes me want to rush through or slow down and check out the scenery.

It matters a lot more than the FPS rate or whether or now the game runs 1080p I can tell you that much

the soundtrack is really really important to me. i can't enjoy it as much if it doesn't have a good soundtrack because then i have to shut off the sound and i hate that.

Music is one of the biggest things to consider in a game. I would elaborate more on this but I feel like being a procrastinator today.

very important. but there are times where the game does give you some type of music but only for a short while. so its best to listen to something while your playing
