I haven't used ol' Facebook in several years.

Anybody that I care to keep in contact with I have on my skype list. At least with skype I can have an actual conversation when needed/wanted without having to see all the bullshit from random people that added me because we went to the same high school. >:B

I've never used social media and doubt I ever will, I'm just an anti-social person apparently.

What I think is disturbing is that it seems like a lot of people get to the point where they're consumed by it; they just have to check it all the time, to the extent that they don't focus on anything due to constantly being distracted. It seems like a compulsion that they can't resist.

Personally, I'm terribly tired of the whole social media craze. I miss the times when privacy was valued and maintainable. Maybe I'm a relic of a past age, and maybe I should just accept the fact that businesses and governments can know everything of import about me, and figure I may as well let everyone else know as well, even strangers.

Perhaps, like in so many science fiction stories, true peace will only come about once everyone can know the feelings and thoughts of everyone else. I expect the opposite will happen; some thoughts and feelings will forever prove divisive.

Actually, this puts me in mind of Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space trilogy, specifically to do with Clavain and the other Conjoiners.
I'll probably end up like a character in another story, though; Lestat at the end of Interview with the Vampire, when he is unable to cope with the modern world he finds himself in. It's funny considering my background should help me adapt to our technology, but my personality is probably not a good match for the direction our society seems to be moving in and adapting that technology to support.

I use it only to keep in touch with friends/co-workers. Used to play games on it but now i use it to see what friends are up to, or as an alternative method of contact if i don't feel like calling or texting.

I wish I could delete my Facebook. But the only photographic evidence that I've existed for the last 10 years is on there, and it would be a pain to back it all up.

It's useful for keeping in touch with my old boss, but aside from that, the only thing I use Facebook for is its IM service and playing the weekly Angry Birds tournament.

I really don't understand the obsession, but then again, I've never been the most social person.

I first made my facebook account because my brother was deploying and it's one of the most reliable ways to keep in touch. I checked it regularly for a few months but stopped before long. The last time I actually did something on it was about a year ago, so now I just need to stop being so lazy and actually delete it.

I use Facebook to talk to those who are out of the state, or even out of the country and to connect with some of the Anime & Fashion groups of the area of Texas I live in like the Lolita Fashion group and Hetalia Day group.

Well...I only talk to 5 people on there and I could always just text them instead or other messaging applications...I guess there really is no point. I mean, it's easier to discuss homework and such (my IB classmates created a group on there) but other than that...no point o.0

Yeah facebook is consuming my life. I try to wean myself off of it. It's somewhat successful. sometimes I can go days without it. other days, not so much. but I realized I spend way too much time on it and like, my life is wasting away along with all of the time I spend on the internet. but yet here I am, on a forum. hahaha

I probably go on Facebook like few times a month. I prefer tumblr tbh. I only use facebook to play Songpop and talk to my offline friends/family. I never read the feed so I don't really know what people are doing with their lives. xD
