Anime that will never die?
Posted 10/6/13 , edited 10/6/13
I was thinking about shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note, Bleach, Vampire Knight, where even though they have ended (in EVA's case, ended LONG ago) people still continue to discuss them. Whether it was the acclaim, the endings, or their fanbase in general, they just don't seem to die and it doesn't seem like they will ever die (at least not in the foreseeable future).

Are there any anime, besides the ones I mentioned, where because of the fanbase they will never stop being discussed or die out? (Basically ones where any new anime watchers will immediately here about these shows because no one shuts up about them)

As long as they keep making anime that are based around MMO's or similar concepts, I don't see people forgetting about SAO for a while, for better or for worse.

or people who're saying that the comparable anime is better than SAO, and how bad they thought SAO sucked, and so on and so forth... I think most of the people who were in it for the hype have moved on, and the only ones that really talk about SAO anymore are the haters who still have some kind of grudge against SAO because it killed their mother, or something.. or they're an over-opinionated... something I won't say... who likes to try and compare every anime they like, that is more popular than SAO, to SAO to try and show how unpopular they feel SAO should be. but whatever.

some more shows with a pretty big undying fanbase are Clannad and Toradora.

You know; Naruto is seemingly never going to end.

In the retrospect of living on through discussion - I don't know, nothing springs to mind immediately, if I had to say anything I would say Clannad, but I don't even feel that way about Clannad to be honest.

- Naruto
- One Piece
- Fairy Tail
- Dragonball, Dragonball Z, etc.

Those are just a few that come to mind. Eventually, they'll die out.

Everything dies.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure probably will stay for a long time. Their fan base in America isn't too big, though.

Well 25 years later Dragon Ball is still enormously popular with tons of new video games and even new anime coming out. I think that it's popularity has dipped slightly with the newest generation of Shounen anime fans who are more in favor of Naruto and Bleach. But I bet DB will remain hugely relevant and popular for at least another ten years and will remain in peoples memories for far longer than that.

Sailor Moon. Us old-time Moonies aren't going anywhere, even if that remake never happens.

I agree with Neon Genesis Evangelion. A lot of people are still hardcore fans. Considering the fact that people still make EVA into AMVs during conventions in 2013...

Nah, SAO is big, but I think it'll die out eventually. The novelty will wear off.
