Personally, I like it a LOT more then before. It plays so much faster and it looks SO much better, and overall is just a huge improvement from the original in my opinion.

yes, i don't show elite banner you are referring to but i can watch all the elite shows in 720 i just have to watch the adds as well.. seriously this is bullshit and whoever did this should be fired... their website was bad before but this is just bad business... who does this if i did this at my job and if went out to all our online customer forcing them to sign backup up everyone would close their accounts and move their business... I'll have to check my account and find out when the last time they took their payment... i shouldn't have to do this...

i would like to add anytime you try to ask about stuff in the forums they block the forums and redirect to the robot... i'm not really happy about something i know i've paid for and having to pay another so i'm going to end up paying $15 just to get one month of membership and people are saying when they even try that it gives them errors.. this is the most horrible web team i've ever seen... seriously who is in charge? i would like to add when we pay for a service we agree to the terms but if those services aren't given then the terms are out the door and you can't just say no refunds they might not have to give money but they might can be forced to give free months i have some money for a lawyer and my dad has tons of lawyer buddies... i think i will be asking them a few questions... no joking around... this has hit a nerve with me.

Honestly I think it's a failure. The site is just as messy and flashy and poorly conceived as it was before. Why should I jump for joy along with all the Funimation apologists just because they finally made their site barely functional when the root issues are still there.

One of the biggest of these issues is that their website is still unsupported between 5 PM to 9 AM every week day and for no hours at all on the weekend. Sorry but you're streaming anime, not building a house. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

Could you imagine emailing Netflix on a Saturday about a problem only to be told in reply on Monday "hurrdurr no weekend support for you." Weekends are peak streaming times, for all streaming sites! Yet with Funimation if something catastrophically fails with the site or with an App they don't even know about it. So not a single person can be bothered to even check the bug reports forum from their home computers? Really? REALLY?!

To top it all off, they have a pretty mediocre catalog and charge a dollar more than Crunchyroll per month. So it's like "what's the point?"

I couldn't comprehend why the site was so flipping junky and slow. It's 2013, it ran like an old site on dialup in 1999. Crunchyroll just sets the standard too high. If you aren't doing what CR is doing you better go back to the drawing board!!!!

Generally, that's what I see with CR as well. I'll occasionally get a response after hours, but that's not the usual case.

I wouldn't have believed that they could make the site perform even more poorly... but they did.

CR has weekend customer support though they may divert tougher individual issues to non-weekend support. Naturally, if there is something widespread, weekend support will report it and we do work on weekends to fix issues.

On FUNimation's new site, navigating between tabs on a series page is slow, especially for One Piece where it takes 5 seconds to switch between tabs which also locks up the page for the duration of those 5 seconds. The problem is that they load all the episodes on the page and then use javascript to display certain sections. What they should have done is dynamically load the data when/where necessary using AJAX instead of all at once. In general, they went a little too HTML5 crazy (style) and forgot about performance (substance). However, overall performance is up compared to their last site since they aren't needlessly re-fetching data like they used to on each series page tab click for instance.

Maybe so, but they also didn't consider the stability of their apps. My iPad app crashes to desktop when I try a title search. That's "extremely" helpful. And it's by no means the only serious bug I've noticed with their site upgrade.

Poor performance. Poor stability. Poor cross system testing.
Fail.

It's sad really and someone deserves to get fired over it that's for sure... if i did something like this i know i would be in hot water... Did they not even test this before switching over to live mode? If so must have been inside their company.

It was confirmed that the grey control bar staying on the screen wasn't an error:

Yes, for now the bar is persistent at the bottom of the player. I have suggested to the development team that it disappear on fullscreen.

It seems strange that they are making it a point to tell people not to post about problems in the forum (even noting such posts would be deleted), and instead only report them to support. Aside from potentially overwhelming their support staff, it also gives an appearance of trying to hide any problems from public view. Imagine how people would react if CR took the same approach.

EDIT 10/19/2013:

An interesting tidbit is that apparently the new site does have an HTML5 video player, but only uses it if your device does not have Flash.

According to Sophie, user tickets don't go directly to the development team, but pass through her, and she then creates the dev ticket from user requests. I'd imagine there's a way to associate between the two systems, but at least this way devs are blasted by multiple tickets for the same issue.

Well, my PC is around 2 years old and I'm not the smartest when it comes to expertise on graphics, but I have no problems watching anything on SD. Sometimes, I can get through one whole episode when HD is turned on then the next episode every 45 seconds I'm having to wait 10-15 seconds before play resumes. That's annoying as hell. For me, the website is a lot more stable than the previous design. I had many times where the site would be all messed up and I would get error messages. My biggest beef is with their I-phone and I-pad app. Neither one will accept my login or password. I e-mailed them about the issue and 3 weeks ago they said there are many people having the same issue and that an update would be coming up w/n 7-10 days. Well, that's been over 20 days ago. I find watching Funimation on I-pad more enjoyable because I can sit in my recliner instead of a computer chair.

So, as far as the website goes it's much better IMO. I think I just need a new graphics card.
