Hiya, I don't know if my brain is just misfiring or what, but not exactly sure what you are saying here. Are you saying that a real anime fan when posting to debate will substantiate their reasons as to why, where the bad fandom will just say XX sux, YY rulz?

Ie to have your everybody popping in about Attack on titan, my praise for AoT comes to the fluid animations, the way character development is done naturally, and an absolutely fantastic musical soundtrack in the mix.

The AoT manga on the other hand I found the art to be simplistic and uses many basic novice techniques giving it an overall amateurish finish. Surprized me actually since I saw the anime before I checked out the manga.

Super Otaku's are bad but at least their annoying anger is positive. They like their show to the extreme and say only positive thing about it. Anime Hipsters hate everything popular and only say negative things. They purposely look for flaws and don't try to enjoy it. Anime is made for entertainment purposes, not to start some battle of epic proportions. Unless that battle is having every anime character fight to the death, I'd watch that.

Completely agree with the first half of your statement. While annoying, a positive attitude is always better. However, the second half (looking for flaws, battle, something beyond entertainment) alas belongs to both groups.

The hipster will pick at the story meaning, or art, and things like that. I find the super otaku will hate something or argue based on things such as lore incontinuities, Sounds, style or story emulating other shows, etc. Maybe those guys are super otaku hipsters? I cannot think of a specific example, but I have ended up being argued that such and such show sucks because A-B makes no sense for some obscure fiction reason and so and so is just like so and so from some long run series of past.

Maybe it is a twist of that live long enough to be a villain thing. "You either quit being an otaku, or squee long enough to become the hipster"

I will explain there are a few bad apples in every cart / anime fan base. However when there is a irrevelant post on a different topic other than an anime itself ( favorite discussion. awards what you have watched etc are OK) it is usually one of the two fan basses I mentioned.Again very few! Most people stick to their own anime.

I never mentioned anything about battles or such. In when they stick their two cents into a thread just to be annoying.I also said very few! So please dont be offended personally it's the a certain group within your fanbase that's alll! It's not because it's popular or anything like that!

BTW I went by what the topic requested!

While I agree that every fan base has annoying people in it, I'm not blind and I'm online a lot so yeah I see it, I get freaking sick of people saying Fairy Tail is just a copy of One Piece. If you look a every popular shoen manga/anime in the last 3 decades, they all have similar plot points and character traits

*Sigh* I'll never understand threads like these. If you don't like something and someone else does, why do you have to try and force your negativity on them? It's fine to dislike shows but is it really necessary to go out of your way to convince other people that they should hate it too? Just let people enjoy the things they enjoy! I mean, seriously. Some of the reasons given here don't even mention the fans and only say how overrated the show is, and not whether the fans are bad or not. It really amazes me that some people don't have the common sense to realise that people have different tastes. We should just accept that we all like different things!

Well, that's enough naive optimism for today. I'll just go crawl back in my cave, shielded from the ridiculous reality of the world.

In those respects, it just comes down to the human natural instinct to form hierarchy. I went to school with a guy who seriously considered anybody without the same types of taste, or certain tastes truely not worth his time and lacking intelligence. I have multiple hobbies I partake in and some of them completely unrelated, but the same arguements and debates exist within each one. People have the inherent instinct to defend their property (even when wrong) or attempt to downplay somebody else to bring their statute up.

So outside of anime and manga, on a related note I have interest in tabletop rpgs, and my biggest interest is in the fields of automotive and motorcycles. To be honest, the anime and manga crowd is quite subdued. Majority of the time, it isn't even about the series specifically.

Hence why I cannot pick out a series in specific. But pretty much this forms for every long run series simply because it stays in the forefront so long and the more it hangs around, the more the fanbase polarizes. Shows like Naruto and Bleach are the examples that work well here. They are enjoyable shows, not my type of shows (anymore cause I lost interest in the animes and the bleach manga). However the debate for the negativity side usually ends up coming down to some side point about trying to define the makeup of the show instead of the show itself.

Now getting into the fields of bikes and mechanics, debates about what is better will turn downright hostile. There are people who are solely for the image, some the mechanics, and some for their tastes. When considering the money and impact of it all, these guys can get dangerous. We have all seen the "Berserk Sux" posts. Dare you to go onto any motorcycle forum or up to any motorcycle rider and say their bike does.

Edit: Adding additional comments

I remember an interview from one of the greats, cannot remember who it was, but he was replying about a question in regards to people emulating his style and his work.

His reply was everybody from birth is influenced from another. Not direct quote, but going from the general statements I can remember

"Those that truely appreciate anime will without doubt, begin to homogenize and emulate their favorite works. Not in an attempt to gather popularity from their fame, but just because subconciously, that is what their ideal style is. If you look back, there would be only two artists which I (the person being interviewed) could consider truely original.

I'll never understand people who don't read the initial forum posts. Or the title no less.

I read the title, and I read the initial forum post, but I also read through the posts of other people, and I have to say quite a few people here are missing the point and not posting the anime they think have awful fans, but anime they just think are overrated/over hyped, as will always be the case with threads like these.

Biggest problem is that in reality, the show that people would consider having the worst fanbase would end up being the most popular. Entire reason is that the more popular and longer running a show, the more vocal, visual and extreme the fans will be. Fans of niche shows also have smaller internal fan bases so are the least likely to be prominent in discussions. Some small show might have terrible fans, but nobody would really thing about them since it is so rare they might interact.

When it comes to anime, the more accurate question might be which genre has the worst fanbase. In which case, I have to say the pure fan-service shows, alas this is where the majority of "anime nerd" stereotypes are based.

One Piece - Full of filler and terrible first 50 episodes that people say you can ignore them when the rest of one piece is filler and the first five minutes of every episode is just a recap of what happened last episode.

SAO - Amazing first five episodes kinda dragged after hate hearing how it was perfect and had nothing wrong with it. (No anime made has zero flaws with it)

Attack on Titan - Just like all shonen they are all generic and rather shallow. Enjoyable to watch just not a deep anime that you can re-watch twelve times learning small things and getting a deeper meaning from the series.

Not all shounen are generic and shallow. The same as all seinen titles are mature and interesting, or all shoujo titles are cute and full of friendship. Don't always assume just because one, or a few titles, in the demographic are similar that all of them are.

Homestuck are the worst offenders I have ever seen.
Hetalia used to be pretty bad too.. if you've been to almost any con in the last few years.. you know.
These groups are VERY obnoxious, loud, and usually just rude.

Homestuck especially, as Hetalia is kinda dying/mellowing out.
Always in grey paint, and being huggy, and messing up countless cosplays..
They annoy me to no end, and I pray they move on to the next big thing and further divide themselves into smaller and smaller groups.. leaving us with more variety and less mobs.

The variety of anime and cosplays are what make cons so fun... not huge groups of one thing.

I do not necessarily think that this fan base is bad and even though i did also enjoy this anime personally... I believe that the fans of Steins Gate tend to overate the anime slightly. It was a really good watch but from what I have seen from MAL and other anime rating sites I wouldnt say it was one of the best ever!
Im sorry if i offend anyone!
