Hello all,

So, I'm really rather upset that Polar Bear's Cafe has ended. It ended well, but I think that it really could have gone on much longer. The characters were all really well developed, and I certainly don't think it ended from lack of material. My feeling is they aren't making more because of the whole issue of the studio not getting permission from the original manga author Aloha Higa first, but I cannot find much information on the issue. Assuming the author gets reimbursed, I think there is little reason why they should not make a second season. Aloha Higa said herself the anime is high quality.

So anyway, to get to the point, I'm wondering if there would be any support here for a petition to be made for another season. I don't know who it would be sent to. Probably both studio Pierrot, and Aloha Higa, to cover our bases here. I hope theres at least a few others out there like me who would love to see this high quality show have a longer run!

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

In fact it seems it may have ended due to lack of material. But that's second-hand knowledge on my part, based on this:

Tehehehe thanks Lorreen Yeah I was keeping up with it on Anime News Network since I ADORE the anime. It's a complicated situation. Seems first off the manga itself was almost caught up and most of that only dealt with a couple of the animals (not the plethora that is in the anime). Then the mangaka got in a holy war with the publishers who were taking liberties with her work to the point where she stopped publishing in the magazine in protest. After several months of "indefinite hiatus" she took last year trying to drill into their heads she wasn't kidding I think it returned but even so the material is small compared to manga we are used to. I believe it only posts one new one every 2 months or something like that so for them to come up with another 25 episodes they'd have to bypass the mangaka and create whole new content. That's not going to happen especially with what she had to put up with last year... I know it rated well as anime and people want it back until there's more content and things iron out with the publishing side I doubt we will see it for another couple years. We already have 2 full seasons for a total of 50 episodes so I'm still not sure what the OP is speaking of that there never was a 2nd season.

One of the source articles (there are more just follow the links to previous articles in the story)

Too bad. I guess we'll never learn if zookeeper Handa will ever be able to summon enough bravado to ask Sasako out on a date or if Pengy-san will be able to narrow down his harem from 14 to 1. Love was in the air. No fair. So there.

My mistake, I watched it all in one run so I assumed it was a single season.
Thats really unfortunate, but at least it sounds like the problem lies with Aloha Higa's editors, not with studio Pierrot. Heres hoping they do indeed make a third season when the manga has enough new content. C'mon studio Pierrot, ask her to help write a new season so it happens faster!!! =)

Yeah that's really unfortunate and I'm happy though that the author was always quick to explain that she had zero issues with the anime people .. but it was with her manga publisher that made it impossible for her to continue working I also wanted to see if Handa would finally get his chance with his coworker encroaching on his supposed territory! Given though everything that she's gone through (meaning the author) I doubt we'll see this soon. Seems the source material as it is is very small and infrequent (like 2 panels or so every 2 months) so even if she started to write more it will still take a lot to actually create a full season. I'll be watching weekly like I did with the original series if that happened.
